MINUTES
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
Community Development Conference Room, Village Hall
Thursday, February 27, 2020
8:00 a.m.
The meeting of the Economic Development Commission (EDC) of the Village of Mount Prospect was
held on Thursday, February 27 in the third floor Executive Conference Room in the Village Hall, 50 South
Emerson Street, Mount Prospect, Illinois.
CALL TO ORDER
Skip Robertson called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. Commissioners Jim Drew, Jim Peterson, David
Roe and Tom Zander were present. Also present were Nellie Beckner, Assistant Village Manager, Bill
Cooney, Director of Community Development, and Connor Harmon, Development Planner.
Others present included Dawn Collins, Executive Director of the Mount Prospect Chamber and Maura EI
Metennani, MECO Consultants.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the November 14, 2019 meeting were reviewed and approved unanimously.

No comments.
OLD BUSINESS
Development Update
Mr. Cooney provided a brief update on various developments throughout the Village.
NEW BUSINESS
Strategic Plan
Mr. Cooney distributed a summary of the recently approved Strategic Plan that was approved by the
Village Board for 2020. He highlighted several of the goals that related to economic development
throughout the community. Many of the top priorities include completing the downtown development
projects including the Maple Street Lofts, 10 N. Main and 20 West projects and moving along the Block
56 and Prospect Place projects.
Branding Plan
Mr. Cooney introduced Maura EI Metennani from MECO Consultants who has been retained by the
Village to establish a branding plan for Mount Prospect. Ms. EI Metannani gave a brief overview of the
process that she will coordinate with the community to obtain as much input as possible from a cross
section of our businesses and residents. She explained the importance of branding and how the Village
would communicate that brand moving forward. The commission discussed the project and indicated
that they were in support of moving forward with it.
