OLD BUSINESS
Thanksgiving in October Banquet
Mary Ann Sibrava provided a report on the banquet (see attached). She thanked all involved. She also
covered the visit of the French musicians in general. They were featured on a segment of Talk of the
Town on MPTV, toured Mount Prospect including Randhurst, the high school, public works, Fairview
school, Police and Fire. They also toured Chicago. But noted there was a problem with the Fire
Department bus having tinted windows. Thanked Leo and Lil Floros for doing the tour. They visited
Navy Pier and had dinner at Andy's Jazz club. Mayor Wilks hosted a party at her home for the visitors
and Commission members following a performance of the Chicagoland Pops they attended (which Maura
Reschke coordinated and had tickets donated).
Other comments: The banquet food was very good.
Next time -separate people coordinating banquet and visit
Formally let Sevres know how much we appreciated them sending the people and hope it can become an
annual visit.
Hoffman Estates Events
Rachel attended a movie showing and a performance by a barbershop quartet. Dorothy attended a dinner
event. It was a week-long program.
Youth Award
Dorothy nominated Nicole Braus of the Youth Commission for an award through Sister Cities
International. She remarked that things like this help to involve the community.
