HomeMy WebLinkAbout1286_001P R 0 C L A M A T 10 N WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce works with the business community to advance the civic, economic, industrial and professional welfare of the Village of Mount Prospect; and WHEREAS, chambers of commerce have contributed to the civic and economic life in Illinois for 156 years since the founding of the Galena Chamber of Commerce in 1838; and WHEREAS, the chamber of commerce and its members provide citizens with a strong business environment that increases employment, the retail trade and commerce, and industrial growth in order to make the Village of Mount prospect a better place to live; and WHEREAS, the chamber of commerce encourages the growth of existing industries, merchants and services, and encourages new firms and individuals to locate in the Village of Mount Prospect. NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Gerald L. Farley, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect do hereby proclaim September 18 through September 24, 1994 as CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WEEK and call its significance to the citizens of the Village of Mount Prospect. Lowe Deputy Village Clerk PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, it is estimated that over 1,300 senior citizens perish each year due to fire; and WHEREAS, older adults comprise over 12% of the population, in excess of 31 million people; and WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Fire Department and the Save Our Seniors (S.O.S.) Committee are working diligently to reduce those horrendous fire deaths through prevention and public education; and WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Fire Department, the Save Our Seniors Committee and Wal-Mart will host S.O.S. - FAST (Save Our Seniors - Fire And Safety Training) at Wal-Mart located in the Mount Prospect Plaza on Tuesday, September 13, 1994 at which time senior citizens of all ages will be encouraged to learn and participate in proper fire survival techniques. NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Gerald L Farley, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim September 13, 1994 as Save Our Seniors Day and call upon our residents individually and as a community to actively support senior citizens and Fire Department in their efforts to reduce fire deaths and injuries in the senior citizen community. I also urge the news media and other public information offices to join in the recognition and encourage participation in this event. Gerald L. Farley, Mayor ATTEST: Velma Lowe, Deputy Village Clerk i '. 1111 M111 I � i 8/30/94 A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF ,DONALD C., WEIBEL WHEREAS, as an active member of his neighborhood, originally an unincorporated area, DONALD C. WEIBEL worked diligently to annex his neighborhood into Mount Prospect. Those efforts were successful with the annexation of the "New Town" area into Mount Prospect in 1971; and WHEREAS, DONALD C. WEIBEL was appointed to the Plan Commission of the Village of Mount Prospect on December 3, 1974, and on August 19, 1986, was appointed to the position of Chairman of the Plan Commission; and WHEREAS, as a member of the Mount Prospect Plan Commission, DONALD C. WEIBEL helped develop the Comprehensive Plan for the Village as well as subsequent amendments over the years; and WHEREAS, DONALD C. WEIBEL served on the Mount Prospect Plan Commission with distinction and dedication giving generously of his time and efforts during a period of great growth and change in the Village of Mount Prospect; and WHEREAS, as a result of his dedicated service and interest in the Village of Mount Prospect, DONALD C. WEIBEL was called upon to serve an interim term as Village Trustee from 1990 to 1991, a position he served with excellence and commitment; and WHEREAS, DONALD C. WEIBEL will resign from the Mount Prospect Plan Commission as of September 15, 1994, so that he and his wife Genevieve can enjoy their retirement dream home, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION!QN E: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount . Prospect as well as the residents of the Village, do hereby extend sincere appreciation to DONALD C. WEIBEL for his years of dedicated service to the Village of Mount Prospect. SECTION That the Mayor and Board of Trustees and the community as a whole extend best wishes to DONALD C. WEIBEL and his wife Genevieve on the occasion of his retirement from the Mount Prospect Plan Commission and do further wish happiness, good health and enjoyment in their retirement. SECTION THREE: That a copy of this Resolution be presented to DONALD C. WEIBEL. SECTION FOUR: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
