Chairman McKillop called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m.
Roll Call:
Robert McKillop, Chairman
John Arndt, Commissioner
Clyde Brooks, Commissioner

Michael Figolah, Fire Chief

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Arndt to accept
the minutes of the July 26, 2006, Special Meeting.
Voice vote: Ayes: Arndt, Brooks, Busse, Cotten, McKillop
Nays: None Motion carried
A motion was made by Commissioner Brooks and seconded by Commissioner Cotten to accept
the minutes of the August 1, 2006, Open Meeting.
Voice vote: Ayes: Arndt, Brooks, Cotten, McKillop
Nays: None Motion carried
Abstain: Busse
A motion was made by Commissioner Brooks and seconded by Commissioner Arndt to accept
the minutes of the August 17, 2006, Open Meeting.
Voice vote: Ayes: Arndt, Brooks, Busse, Cotten, McKillop
Nays: None Motion carried
CLOSED SESSION
A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Arndt to go into
Closed Session for the purpose of approving closed session minutes.
Roll Call:
Ayes: Arndt, Brooks, Busse, Cotten, McKillop
Nays: None Motion carried
The Board reconvened with everyone present at 7:22 p.m.
Chairman McKillop asked the Chief to express to Secretary Diane Rhode the Board's
appreciation for her work during the testing process. Commissioner Brooks suggested a letter
from the Board for her personnel file. The Chief was also asked to thank all personnel involved
with the testing process.

POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
An update was provided by Chief Eddington. Chief Eddington invited the Board to stop by the
Citizens Police Academy, which starts September 19th.
FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Figolah reported 268 applications were received for the new hire test. The written exam will
be held on Saturday, September 9, 2006.
POLICE/FIRE PREFERENCE POINTS
Chairman McKillop asked the Board to consider a motion for preference points for veterans and
paid-on-call firefighters. The Board agreed to have the Fire Chief and Police Chief consult with
the attorney to draft specific language for the preference points.
Amotion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Arndt to authorize
the Chiefs to meet with the attorney to draft the verbiage and bring it back to the Board.

Nays: None Motion carried
CORRESPONDENCE
The Board complimented Sergeant Janowick's work on the Police Department's Annual Report.
The Chiefs were excused from the meeting.
OTHER BUSINESS
The Board discussed bringing in a testing agency in November to give them an overview of the
testing process. Commissioner Arndt mentioned the IFPCA Fall seminar will be held at Pheasant
Run.
The next BOFPC meeting will be held October 3rd at 6:15 p.m.
A motion was made by Commissioner Arndt and seconded by Commissioner Cotten to adjourn
the meeting at 8:16 p.m.
