RESOLUTION NO. 41-75
A RESOLUTION TO PARTICIPATE UNDER
THE ILLINOIS POLICE TRAINING ACT
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect, a home rule local
governmental unit, is desirous of electing to participate in th
program under the Illinois Police Training Act enacted by the
74th General Assembly and amended by the 79th General Assembly
of the State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, in order that the Village of Mount Prospect may be
eligible for initial or continued participation in the program,
the law requires that before an individual may commence regular
employment as a policeman, he must have been certified by the
Illinois Local Governmental Law Enforcement Officers Training
Board as having successfully completed an approved basic training
course; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect intends to establish its
own school or to utilize some other school certified by said
Board for the purpose of providing the basic training required
under said Act.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAXOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE:- That the Village of Mount Prospect hereby elects to
participate in the program provided for in the Illinois Police
Training Act.
SECTION TWO: That, before an individual may commence regular
employment as a policeman, he must have been certified by the
Illinois Local Governmental Law Enforcement Officer~ Training
Board as having successfully completed an approved basic
training course as provided in said Act.
A. That such basic training must be completed by
the trainee within six months of the date of
his initial full-time employment.
B. That the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners
is hereby instructed and directed to make the
necessary amendments to the Personnel Rules, the
Manual of Rules of the Village of Mount Prospect
Police Department, and Rules of said Board of
Fire and Police Commissioners, requiring that
any person appointed to the Police Department
of the Village of Mount Prospect pursuant to the
provisions of Section 10-2.1-26 of the 'Illinois
Municipal Code' and the said Illinois Police

Training Act, shall not become a regular member
of the Village of Mount Prospect Police
Department until and unless he shall have
successfully completed the approved basic
training course within six months of the date
of his initial full-time employment.
SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force
and effect from and after its p~ssage and approval in the
manner provided by law.
