INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO; Village Manager Robert J. Eppley
FROM: Assistant Village Manager
SUBJECT: Mayor's Coffee 3-4-78
DATE: March 6, 1978
Citizens in Attendance: 30
F/1.0011
Elected Officials: Mayor Krause
Trustee Murauskis
Trustee Floros
Trustee Wattenberg
1. Complaint from citizen in Huntington Commons Condos about
ticketing for no vehicle sticker on private property.
Explanation given by me did not satisfy him, but he
accepted the fact that our Police Department can do it.
2. Mr. Beck complained about several of his neighbors cleaning
the snow off their driveways and shoveling it across the
sidewalks, blocking the pedestrian right-of-way.
3. Mr. A. J. Thomas brought up a complaint about vandalism in
his area. Mr. Thomas wanted to know what kind of effort
we are making to curb vandalism. He also complained about
the fact that many vandalism complaints are not listed in
the newspaper. He feels everything should be listed by the
newspaper. Dolores Haugh and I gave an explanation of how
the reporting process is carried out. It's simply up
to the newspaper to collect the reports.
4. Lewis Blatnick of 815 S. See Gwun (775-5454 (b), and
255-5502 (h) ), complained about vandalism also. Twice he
has called the Police Department about vandalism around
his house. The first time it took 40 min. to get a squad
and the second time it took 20 to 30 minutes to get a squad.
Mr. Blatnick told the dispatcher the first time that a shot
or BB had been fired through his front window. Mr. Blatnick
met with Comdr. Savage last week but has not yet received
a response to his complaint. I told him I would respond
this week.
5. Complaints about the Park District and Storm lasted for
about an hour. The Mayor did most of the explaining about
the Village's position.
6. Several PTA members announced their concern for the cleaning
of sidewalks along Linneman Road between Dempster and
Cottonwood. Mrs. Carol Teufel of 1601 Catalpa (439-1745)

and Mrs. Connie Aumuller of 1419 Circle Drive (439-3682)
asked if anything could be done. The Mayors response
was that if Mr. Eppley could go ahead and solve the
problem along Busse Road re: the snow -packed sidewalks,
then he can clean off those walks along Linneman Road and
make it safer for the passage of the children.
There was also a request to clean the pathway running through
the Commonwealth Edison right-of-way to Dempster Junior High.
This is Park District land and I explained we had no jurisdiction
there. It seems the Park District passed a resolution saying
they aren't responsible for that pathway.
Meeting ended about 11:55 A.M.
