INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO: John Fulton Dixon, Village Manager
Department Heads and Administrators,
FROM: Chuck Bencic, Inspection Services Director
DATE: October 14, 1991
RE: COFFEE WITH COUNCIL 10/12/91
The monthly Coffee with Council was held on October 12, 1991.
Representing the Village were Trustee Hoefert, Trustee Corcoran, Trustee
Wilks, Village Manager John Fulton Dixon and Director of Inspection
Services Chuck Bencic.
Mr. Bill Turner, 819 So. We -Go reported on the meeting held in Arlington
Heights on airport noise pollution. Mayor Farley had asked Mr. Turner
along with Ken Fritz to attend this meeting. Mr. Turner said he would
also give his report to Mayor Farley.
Adelaide Thulin along with Trustee Wilks gave a update on the Sister
City program. Trustee Wilks will host a meeting at her house with
the Vice Mayor Jerzy Luwicki of Glogow, Poland.
Trustee Corcoran asked about the status of the proposed County
improvement of Euclid Avenue. Mr. Dixon indicated there have been
two conflicting reports from the County on the status of this project.
Staff will try to confirm the status of the project.
Mr. Jim Kadlec, 5 W. Sunset, expressed a concern over increased traffic
and speeding on Sunset Rd. Mr. Kadlec feels Sunset Rd. is being used
as a cut through for traffic from Rte. 83 to Emerson St. He asked
what residents in the area could do to help slow traffic down. Mr.
Kadlec thought possibly some stop signs or speed bumps could be
installed. Mr. Dixon indicated the first course of action from the
Village would be to do some selective police surveillance of the area.
Mr. Kadlec is to get back top Mr. Dixon with the times most of the
speeding is occuring so that the Village can set up the surveillance.
Mr. Kadlec also thought there may be a need for stop signs at Emerson
St. and Country Lane because of possible sight obstructions. He stated
the bushes at this intersection are on private property and are neatly
trimmed but may still cause a sight obstruction. Mr. Dixon said staff
will check this out.
