INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
COFFEE WITH COUNCIL
June 9, 1990
Elected officials included Trustees Floros, Corcoran, and Ar-
thur. Administration was represented by Village Manager Dixon,
Asst. Manager Burg, and Public Works Director Weeks.
The president and executive administrator of the Chamber of
Commerce made a request to have the village reconsider the new
ordinance on increase of real estate transfer tax as it pertains
to businesses. On both issues it was stated there could be a
possibility to bring these matters back to the Village Board for
reconsideration.
A Mr. Harry Graske of 906 S. Lancaster and two of his neighbors
voiced some concerns about the recycling program. Their origi-
nal thought was that the scavenger service was making a big
profit on the recyclables that the residents give them and that
the cost of yard waste bags was to high. After the program was
explained they seemed to understand that no firm is reaping -huge
profits from the sale of recyclables and that the $1.25 per bag
cost for yard waste covered the bag, pickup and transport, plus
the tipping fee at the compost site.
Mr. Grant Lorenz of 802 Dresser Drive (tel. 394-4474) had a
contractor break out his patio and some steps, and a village
representative placed a stop work order on the project. He had
no permit for the work and variances would be required to re-
place the patio in its same location using brick pavers. The
edge of patio would be less than two feet from side lot line.
Mr. Lorenz was advised to make an appeal to the Zoning Board for
a variance. As the earliest hearing date for a variance would
be late July he could make a special request to Planning and
Zoning department to replace the step as that was a safety haz-
ard.
