INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO: Village Engineer Ben Hemmeter
FROM: Assistant Village Manager
SUBJECT: Items from Coffee with Council 6-2-79
DATE: June 7, 1979
The following items were brought up at the Coffee with Council on
June 2, 1979 that involve some aspect of the Engineering Department
and may require followup in some cases:
1. Roy Sunquist, 101 S. Albert and Donna Alexander, 9 S. Albert
requested a traffic study be done for the intersection of
Albert and -Busse and also the intersection of Albert and
Evergreen for the purpose of installing "Stop" signs. The
Mayor is referring this to the Public Health & Safety Committee
for -June action.
2. Michael Steklac, 602 Wilshire Drive, complained that the street
traffic markings on Rte. 83 north for the left turn need re-
painting. I am uncertain as to the left turn on to what street,
but in any case this should be checked out and reported to the
State. Presumably, it is near or on the way to Wilshire and
his home.
3.. Rudy Moell, 520 S. Elmhurst, 253-3697 or 583-6000. Mr. Moell
requested information regarding the resurfacing of Route 83
between the "S" curve and Golf Road. Please advise Mr. Moell
as to the State's progress in letting bids and proceeding with
the resurfacing of this portion of Route 83.
4. Eileen Sampson, 300 S. George, 394-9493, asked if "Walk" "Don't
Walk" signs will be installed at the Maple and Emerson Street
intersections on Northwest Highway when the new railroad crossing
is installed.
Please follow up on these items and report the results back to the
Village Manager, if pcesssary.

SUBJECT: Items from Coffee with Council 6-2-79
DATE: June 7, 1979
The following items were brought up at the Coffee with Council on
June 2, 1979 that involve some aspect of the Police Department and
may require followup in some cases:
1.. Eileen Sampson of 300 S. George (394-9493) requested information
regarding the laws regulating the riding of bicycles on sidewalks.
2. Michael Steklac, 602 Wilshire Drive, complained about garage
sales at 604 Wilshire. Numerous garage sales have been going
on at this address. If necessary, place a watch on this
residence to determine if garage sales are actually going on
on a regular basis. If that is the case, it will be referred
to the prosecutor and the Community Development Department
(zoning) regarding any future legal action that may be taken.
(Bill Amundsen, in response to earlier complaints, has been
visiting the site regularly and taking pictures - when he has
taken a few more he will move. Check with him.)
3, Pat Bolsinger, 514 S. Emerson, complained regarding the danger
on that portion of the bike route from South Emerson to
Lonnquist because of additional traffic.
4. Michael Steklac, 602 Wilshire, complained that Wilshire Drive
is being used as a cutoff and asked if anything could be done
to prevent this.

Director of Community Development Ken Fritz
FROM: Assistant Village Manager
SUBJECT: Items from Coffee with Council 6-2-79
DATE: June 7, 1979
The following items were brought up at the Coffee with Council on
June 2, 1979 that involve your Departments and may require follow
up.
1. John Czerechowicz, 1105 Wedgewood Lane, has requested assistance
with the beautification of the entrances to the Wedgewood Terrace
area. I realize it isn't usual Village policy to assist in
plantings at the entrances of the subdivisions, but it may be
possible to at least assist in the planning in this particular
area.
Mr. Czerechowicz also reported that the shoulder on Oxford at
Wedgewood needs to be repaired.
2. Glen Faringher, address unknown. Mr. Faringher requested in-
formation regarding ordinances or laws pertaining to the shoveling
of sidewalks during the winter snow and what liability is
involved for the property owner. Please obtain the information
regarding the new State laws on this subject and refer same to
Mr. Fritz. If it is also necessary to update the Village
ordinances regarding snow removal on sidewalks, then this should
be pursued prior to the winter.
3. Aggie Rechkling, 218 S. Emerson has requested information regard-
ing the possibility of changing the parking along Emerson
from angle to parallel parking. Street ,he complained that this area
has become a bottleneck because of traffic and .that the change
in parking would assist in relieving the congestion.
Please follow up on these
