HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/02/1979 CWC MinutesVillage of, Mount Prospect Mount Prospect, Illinois Mum INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: Village Engineer Ben Hemmeter FROM: Assistant Village Manager SUBJECT: Items from Coffee with Council 6-2-79 DATE: June 7, 1979 The following items were brought up at the Coffee with Council on June 2, 1979 that involve some aspect of the Engineering Department and may require followup in some cases: 1. Roy Sunquist, 101 S. Albert and Donna Alexander, 9 S. Albert requested a traffic study be done for the intersection of Albert and -Busse and also the intersection of Albert and Evergreen for the purpose of installing "Stop" signs. The Mayor is referring this to the Public Health & Safety Committee for -June action. 2. Michael Steklac, 602 Wilshire Drive, complained that the street traffic markings on Rte. 83 north for the left turn need re- painting. I am uncertain as to the left turn on to what street, but in any case this should be checked out and reported to the State. Presumably, it is near or on the way to Wilshire and his home. 3.. Rudy Moell, 520 S. Elmhurst, 253-3697 or 583-6000. Mr. Moell requested information regarding the resurfacing of Route 83 between the "S" curve and Golf Road. Please advise Mr. Moell as to the State's progress in letting bids and proceeding with the resurfacing of this portion of Route 83. 4. Eileen Sampson, 300 S. George, 394-9493, asked if "Walk" "Don't Walk" signs will be installed at the Maple and Emerson Street intersections on Northwest Highway when the new railroad crossing is installed. Please follow up on these items and report the results back to the Village Manager, if pcesssary. EdwarZ A. Eileen Sampson of 300 S. George (394-9493) requested information regarding the laws regulating the riding of bicycles on sidewalks. 2. Michael Steklac, 602 Wilshire Drive, complained about garage sales at 604 Wilshire. Numerous garage sales have been going on at this address. If necessary, place a watch on this residence to determine if garage sales are actually going on on a regular basis. If that is the case, it will be referred to the prosecutor and the Community Development Department (zoning) regarding any future legal action that may be taken. (Bill Amundsen, in response to earlier complaints, has been visiting the site regularly and taking pictures - when he has taken a few more he will move. Check with him.) 3, Pat Bolsinger, 514 S. Emerson, complained regarding the danger on that portion of the bike route from South Emerson to Lonnquist because of additional traffic. 4. Michael Steklac, 602 Wilshire, complained that Wilshire Drive is being used as a cutoff and asked if anything could be done to prevent this. John Czerechowicz, 1105 Wedgewood Lane, has requested assistance with the beautification of the entrances to the Wedgewood Terrace area. I realize it isn't usual Village policy to assist in plantings at the entrances of the subdivisions, but it may be possible to at least assist in the planning in this particular area. Mr. Czerechowicz also reported that the shoulder on Oxford at Wedgewood needs to be repaired. 2. Glen Faringher, address unknown. Mr. Faringher requested in- formation regarding ordinances or laws pertaining to the shoveling of sidewalks during the winter snow and what liability is involved for the property owner. Please obtain the information regarding the new State laws on this subject and refer same to Mr. Fritz. If it is also necessary to update the Village ordinances regarding snow removal on sidewalks, then this should be pursued prior to the winter. 3. Aggie Rechkling, 218 S. Emerson has requested information regard- ing the possibility of changing the parking along Emerson from angle to parallel parking. Street ,he complained that this area has become a bottleneck because of traffic and .that the change in parking would assist in relieving the congestion. Please follow up on these Village Manager.
