Finance Commission
Minutes of Meeting - June 17, 1980
PRESENT: Chairman Ronchetto, Commissioners Anda, Beier, Haase, Smilanic,
Director of Management Services Martha H. Peppler.
ABSENT: Commissioners Bachhuber, Hallman, Holloway, Linkman.
The meeting was called to order at 8:00.
Mr. Beier moved to approve the minutes of the meetings of March 19, 1980
and May 1, 1980; Mr. Anda seconded the motion. The minutes were unanimously
approved.
The discussion of the fee survey continued from the previous meeting. It
was noted that the legal memo received by the Commission expressly showed
a prohibition for licensing real estate brokers while the Village continues
to license them under -the -"broker" category. Mrs. Peppler.will follow-up
with the village attorney.
Mr. Ronchetto and Mr. Haase reported on their meeting with Mayor Krause
concerning business and liquor license fees. A general consensus was
reached -concerning the difficulty in interpreting the current ordinance.
A discussion was held on the appropriateness of using square footage as
measure for assessing fees. A draft recommendation report was presented
concerning an increase in liquor'license fees to be more in line with
surrounding communities; suggesting that the fees be reviewed on a regu-
lar basis; and proposing that this report be revised and presented to the
Finance Committee of the Village Board in August.
The Commission agreed to meet in July to review the final draft report.
The meeting adjourned at 9:38 PM.
