COMMITTEE REPORTS
Medical Comm-ittee
Donald Barra, Chairman of the Medical Committee, stated that Mark
Bauer has submitted his request for duty related disability
pension based on a back injury. The Medical Committee has
determined two medical opinions should be obtained by Mark Bauer,
one from Dr. Vatz and the other from Dr. Bauer. It had been
determined at the last Special Meeting that Mark Bauer's
physician's opinion would be used as one to the three required by
law.
The three physicians having examined Mark Bauer were:
Dr. Marshall E. Pedersen
4309 Medical Center Drive
Mc Henry, I1. 60050
Dr. Jerry Bauer
1875 Dempster Street
Suite 530
Park Ridge, I1. 60068
Dr. Kenneth A. Vatz
1100 West Central Road
Arlington Heights, I1. 60005
Having reviewed the job description for Firefighter/Paramedic, it
was the opinion of the physicians that Mark Bauer could not
perform the duties assigned to the position.
This subject will be brought to a vote under the Old Business
portion of the agenda.
Also considered by the Medical Committee were the medical reports
for three candidates for Firefighter/Paramedics:
Dale Steward
Kevin Christianson
Terrence Corr
It was noted that the medical report for Terrence Corr states it
is a "partial" report and therefore should not be considered. A
call was placed the Multiplex and their representative stated
that all tests had been performed and the results were within the
acceptable standards.

The report on Dale Steward indicates a high cholesterol level.
Carolyn Krause stated that some type of requirements should be
established in order for this candidate to reduce his cholesterol
level.
Kevin Christianson appeared to have a high blood pressure, but it
was stated that it was within the acceptable range.
The requests for membership in the Pension Fund will be
considered latzr in the meeting under Old Business.
hief Cavello requested the Medical Committee to find out if
the ---e are any tests available for a member applying for a
disability pension that would address the "symptoms" and possible
therapy in order to correct the problem.
It was also noted that the Schwab Clinic was successful in
rehabilitating Brian Ipsen and suggested that this Clinic might
offer a similar program for others with a disability.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
No report.
