MOTION CARRIED
IV NEW BUSINESS
A) Sharon Pansyl & Sandra Schultz of the Boxwood area,
informed the Commission of their concern for safety
of the children crossing Wheeling Road to attend
Euclid School. They stated there are so many
vehicles parked and abandoned on Wheeling Road &
Boxwood Drive it is very dangerous for children to
cross even with a crossing guard present, and
suggested additional parking restrictions. Tom
Daley informed the residents that in 1977, at the
request of the Boxwood area residents, the Village
Board agreed to allow parking on one side of the
area streets because of shortage of off-street.
parking. Commissioner Coy stated he was not in
favor of mid -block crossings and suggested the
crossing be located at the traffic signal at Euclid
Avenue. It was also suggested the residents work
BE
,.J
together to have the abandoned vehicles removed in
order to provide additional off-street parking.
R) A request from Mr. Hancock, 311 S. Emerson Street
for a Stop Sign to be installed on Milburn at
Emerson Street was reviewed. Mr. Hancock stated a
Stop Sign is needed because existing trees obstruct
the drivers view. The Commission concurred.
Tom Daley, seconded by Commissioner Coy, moved to
recommend the removal of the existing Yield Sign
and the installation of a Stop Sign for eastbound
Milburn Avenue at Emerson St.
Motion Passed Ilnanimously
C) A request from Mr. Mikyska, 512 Deborah Lane for
Yield Signs at the intersection of Deborah & Rusty
Drive was reviewed. Both streets are designated
local with low traffic volumes, no sight obstruct-
ions and there has only been one reported accident
at this intersection in the last five years.
Commissioner Coy, seconded by Del Ulreich, moved to
recommend no action be taken since none of the
warrants for Yield Signs had been met.
Motion Passed Unanimously
D) A request from Mr. & Mrs. Hutchings, 101 N. Maple
Street to reduce the speed limit on Maple Street
from 25 MPH to 15 MPH was reviewed.
Commission Coy, seconded by Tom Daley recommended
denial of the request based on Illinois State
Statues which does not allow the speed limit to be
lowered to 15 MPH.
Motion Passed Unanimously
E) A request from
Mr. Jaqus, 121
N. Stratton Lane to
restrict parking
adjacent to his
home was
reviewed.
On Sunday's vehicles
park in this area
when St.
Emily's Church
parking lot is
full. It
was the
Commission's opinion
this was
not that
great a
hardship for the
amount of time
vehicles
would be
parked and that
restricting the parking
in this
area would only move any problem
to a new
location.
Commissioner Coy, seconded by Tom Daley, moved to
recommend denial of the request for parking
restriction adjacent to 121 N. Stratton.
