SAFETY COMMISSION
November 1, 1932
I CALL TO ORDER
Tie regularmeeting of the Mount Prospect Safety Commission was called to
order at 7:40 P.M.

Present upon roll call: Andrew Mitchell,` Chairman
Lee Beening, Secretary
Jackie Frank
Also present: James Hilliger,` Fire Department
Tom Daley, Police Department
Drew Johanson, Engineering Division
Absent: Art Coy, Vice Chairman
There were approximately three person in the audience.
III APPROVAL OF N U T E S
commissioner MIrank, seconded by Commissioner Beening moved to approve
the minutes of the regular meeting of the Safety Commision held September,
13, 1982.
Motion was passed unanimously.
IV NEW BUSINESS
request from Mr. Tom Dadko, 9 N. Lancaster, for the CENTRAL ROAD
installation of a traffic signal at the intersection AND WE -GO TRAIL
of Central Road and We -Go Trail was reviewed. Mr. Dadko
expressed his main concern was for safety of the children
crossing Central Road. The Commission explained that the
traffic study conducted in October, 1982 indicated the
vehicular and pedestrian volume was below the minimum
range for traffic signal control. After further discussion,
Chairman Mitchell requested the engineering staff contact
the Illinois Department of Transportation to review the 35
MPH speed limit along Central Road to possibly lower the
speed to 30 MPH from Busse Road to Northwest Highway.
A request from Mrs. Russo, 1005 Robert Drive for a 4 -WAY ROBERT DRIVE
STOP at the intersection of Robert Drive and Palm Drive AND PALM DRIVE
was reviewed. The intersection presently has no traffic
control. The Commission discussed the findings of the
traffic study conducted in October, 1982 and concluded
that a 4 -WAY STOP is not warranted. However, based on
the restricted vision caused by bushes on Palm Drive, a
motion was made by Commissioner Beening, seconded by
Commissioner Frank to recommend the installation of YIELD
SIGNS on east and westbound Palm Drive at Robert Drive.
Motion was passed unanimously.

V. OTHER

reduce the speed limit on Centennial Carr ve from 30 MPH, to
C MPH was reviewed. Based an the amount of trwck,traffic,
and the location of the senior titizen mousing, A, motion
was made by Tom Daley, seconded by Commissioner Frank
recommend reducing the speed limit ; on Centennial Drive to
0 MPH for its, entire jurisdiction past and westbound.
