MOUNT PROSPECT SAFETY COMMISSION
Minutes
April 2, 1979
The regular monthly meeting of the Mt. Prospect Safety Com-
mission was held in the Village Hall on April 2, 1979. The
meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m. by Art Coy, Chairman.
Members in attendance were Andy Mitchell, Ben Schola, Harold
Abramowski, and John Sauter, Engineering Technician.
1. Lonnquist Boulevard between Meier Road and Crestwood Lane.
The Commission discussed the lack of progress by the Village
on resolving the very dangerous conditions where school
children must walk in the street around the property. The
Commission hopes the Village will clear up the problem in the
very near future.
2. Forest, Henry and Northwest Highway intersection. The
Commission had 3 members of the Northwest Homeowners Association
at their meeting to discuss the problems at the intersection.
After considerable discussion on the problems, a motion was made
by Harold Abramowski that the Village pass the necessary
ordinance for "No Left Turn from 6;30 a.m. to 9 a.m. 7 days a
Week" for the Northwest Highway southeast bound to northbound
Forest. The motion was seconded by Ben Scola and passed. The
Commission, having numerous complaints about the sight distance
of the existing fence along Henry Street, asked John Sauter to
investigate this and report back at the next meeting.
3. Greenwood Avenue. After receiving complaints from residents
about the speeding of traffic on Greenwood from Wolf Road to
Wheeling Road, the Commission recommends signs be more adequately
placed and have better law enforcement.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
