MOUNT PROSPECT SAFETY COMMISSION
Minutes
October 2, 1978
The regular monthly meeting of the Mount Prospect Safety Commission
was held in the Village Hall on October 2, 1978. The meeting was
called to order by Chairman Ben Scola at 7:40 p.m. Members present
were: Andy Mitchell, Art Coy, Harold Abramowski, Police Officer
Mike Goy, and John Sauter, Engineering Technician.
The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved.
Old Business:
1. Ben Scola reported that after the September Commission meeting,
the Village Board directed Ed Geick to begin condemnation pro-
ceedings for the purchase of right-of-way to improve Lonnquist
Boulevard in the vicinity of Crestwood Lane east of Meier Road.
2. Kensington Center reports were transmitted by John Sauter to all
members for review. The discussion was limited to those areas
within Village limits currently under consideration by the Village
Board.
(a) The Commission members voted unanimously to recommend that
Wheeling Road intersect Rand Road directly opposite Gregory
Street for full and proper traffic control operation of the
intersection. This recommendation is contingent on the impact
of William Street on overall intersection operation.
This recommendation is also consistent with the Comprehensive
Village Plan, the 1970 Village of Mount Prospect Traffic
Safety � Traffic Control Studies, and past recommendations
of the Safety Commission.
(b) The Commission members voted unanimously to recommend that
two primary access points be developed off Kensington Road
to serve the Kensington Center. One of these access points
should be Wheeling Road, contingent upon Village Board .._approval
of making Wheeling Road part of the thoroughfare system for
the Kensington Center. Improvements at the intersection of
Kensington $ Wheeling Roads should be developed for reassigned
inbound and outbound traffic movements based upon the fully
developed project.
New Business':
The Commission members approved the new officers for the 1978-79 year
as follows:

Vice Chairman Harold Abramowski
Secretary Andy Mitchell
Committee Rep. Ben Scola
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:50 p.m.
