Public Content "TOM Presently,, there are 2,257 streetlights in Mount Prospect. This total includes all lights on major arterials, secondary arterials, collector streets and local roads. 1,267 (56%) are owned by the Village. The balance, 990 (44%) are owned by Commonwealth Edison (ComEd). 428 of the Village's 1,267 streetlights (34%) are installed on local streets (not on major arterials). 719 of ComEd's 990 streetlights (73%) are installed in residential areas. Attachment A depicts streetlight ownership distribution. The majority of Village -owned lights in residential areas are powered by high-pressure sodium (189) and Mercury Vapor (109) luminaires. The Village inventory also includes light -emitting diode (LED) (381)., Halogen (13) and metal halide (20) luminaires. Most of ComEd lights are powered by LED lamps. Substantial cost savings could be realized by retrofitting streetlights with energy efficient fixtures such as light - emitting diode (LED) lamps. Cost savings are garnered from reduced electrical consumption, less maintenance and longer equipment life. Public Works staff began replacing existing Village -owned high-pressure sodium and metal halide luminaires with LED luminaires in 2018. Last year, 78 high-pressure sodium luminaires on Central Road were retrofitted with LED fixtures. 2020 planned work includes replacement of 85 existing high-pressure sodium luminaires on Central Road between Mt. Prospect Road and Wolf road, Rand Road between Henry Street and Village Corporate limits to Des Plaines and Wolf Road between Central road and Feehanville Dr. Staff prepared a bid document for the acquisition of eighty-five (85) new LEOTEK LED Fixtures with a correlated color temperature of 3000k.
