ORDINANCE NO. 2563
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12.404 OF THE
HEALTH CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
WHEREAS, there have been only three (3) cases of tuberculosis in the Village of
Mount Prospect during calendar 1974, none of which were among those personnel
in food service establishments; and
WHEREAS, the Health Department of the Village of Mount Prospect has determined
that the greater priority would be to take a stool specimin, rather than an annual
tuberculosis chest x-ray; and
WHEREAS, the issuance of food service establishment business licenses is delayed
in that the Health Department spends at least sixty (60) person hours checking on
tuberculosis x-ray cards before issuing its approval for such licensing; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Health of the Village of Mount Prospect has concurred with
the recommendations of the Director of Health Services of the Village of Mount Pros- :i
pect to eliminate the requirement that such chest x-rays be mandatory; and

WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect hav4
reviewed the recommendations of the Board of Health and the Department of Health (
Services and believe it to be in the best interests of the citizenry of the Village of
Mount Prospect that such requirement be dropped.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEE~
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT:
SECTION ONE: That subsection A of Section 12.404 of the Municipal Code of Mount Ii
Prospect of 1957, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by deleti~g
the requirement that personnel furnish proof of negative chest x-ray results; so thatl!
hereafter the said subsection A of Section 12.404 shall be and read as follows: I
IlSECTION 12.404. Personnel.
A. Health and Disease Control: No person while affected with any disease
in a communicable form or while a carrier of such disease, or while af-
flicted with boils, infected wounds, sores or an acute respiratory in-
fection, shall work in any area of a food service establishment in any
capacity in which there is a likelihood of such person contaminating
food or food-contact surfaces with pathogenic organisms or transmit-
ting disease to other individuals; and no person known or suspected
of being affected with any such disease or condition shall be employed
in such an area or capacity. If the manager or person in charge of the
establishment has reason to suspect that any employee has contracted
any disease in a communicable form or has become a carrier of such
disease, he shall notify the health authority immediately.
SECTION TWO: That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
