MOUNT PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Minutes
April 8, 2000
ATTENDEES: Lil Floros, Leo Floros, Della Baldwin, Carole Bloomquist, Dale Dramin, Steve
Durlacher, Janice Farley, Martha Helm, Linda Hoefert, Terri Pistone, Laury Youngquist
The meeting was called to order by Leo Floros at 9: lOam. The minutes of the March 4, 2000, meeting
were approved.
Welcome to Mt. Prospect - April 22: Dale reported that Nancy Morgan had volunteers do the
mailing of invitations to approximately 350 new residents. Reminder cards are to be sent by village staff
two weeks prior to the event. Janice will get some raffle prizes for a drawing at 10:00 am. The Fall
Welcome to Mt. Prospect event will be held October 28.
Sister City - May 16-19: Lil reported that Irvana Wilks will contact various groJ,lps and organizations
for reservations of tables for the banquet, and she encouraged commission mem~s to attend. She also
announced that the Mt. Prospect Rotarians will be funding the cost of the brealdllsf; at Rob Roy and at the
Friendship Conservatory. Lil asked commission members to advise her if they ar~ interested it). attending
the tour ofMt. Prospect on Wednesday, May 17.
Do-It-Yourself Sousa - June 25 at 7:00: Steve reported for Laura Luteri that a nptice will be in the next
village newsletter and that letters have been sent to the potential players who have participated in the past.
Fourth of July Parade: In Jill Friedrichs' absence, Steve reported that an initial meeting was held
regarding floats and that Jill is seeking musical groups. Leo made a motion, and it was seconded by
Linda, to spend up to $500 for a "sister city" trolley or something similar for the parade.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:55.
