Mount Prospect Special Events Commission
Minutes
August 5, 2000
Attending: Della Baldwin, Steve Durlacher, Dale Draznin, Janice Farley, Leo Floros, Lit Floros, Linda
Hoefert, Mike Ianoms, Laura Luteri, Paul Seils, Steve Shapiro, Laury Youngquist
The meeting was called to order by Lil Floros. Minutes of the June 3, 2000 meeting were approved.
Financial Report. The Celestial Celebration final report showed a balance ofS230.16. Cash balance
July 28,2000 for the Commission is $4,151.32.
Do-it-Yourself-Sousa. Laura Luterl gave everyone a financial report with a balance ofS149.53. She
thanked all those who helped and felt it was the best one ever. The only negative was a letter from Ralph
Wdder stating that he did not receive enough accolades!! Next year's tentative date is June 10,2001--
. same time and place.
July 4th Parade. fill Friedrichs was unable to attend but left a report with the Floros. Leo announced
that because the parade is too much work for one person, the event will be restructured and formed
similar to the banquet committee. This new committee will consist of Jill, Leo and Lil, Dale Draznin,
Janice Farley, Martha Helm, Della Baldwin, Mike Ianoms and Paul Seils. The first meeting will be
Tuesday, August 29, 6:00 p.m. at the Police and Fire Headquarters. Laury Youngquist was thanked for
decorating the SEC trolley for the parade.
Welcome to Mount Prospect. Date is October 28.
Sounds of the Season. It was decided to cancel this event after several good seasons. Randhurst really
isn't interested and the outdoor performance at the band shell is risky because of weather. A new idea is a
sma1lloca1 winter parade tied in with the Chamber. Date is Saturday, December 9 at 5:00 p.m. A
meeting with the committee of Leo and Lil, Mike, Paul, Steve, Laura, Maura (Village Stall) and
Madeline Franklin (Chamber) will be Monday, August 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Village Hall.
The Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless offered by Bristol Court has been canceled for this year.
Laura distributed copies of proposed Shining Star categories for the Celestial Celebration for
suggestions, etc.
