MT. PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
January 3, 2004
ATTENDEES: Della Baldwin, Dale Draznin, Corky Dunn, Janice Farley, Jill
Friedrichs, Leo Floros, Lil Floros, Martha Helm, Linda Hoefert, Mike Janonis, Kathy
Janonis, Paul Seils, Teresa Wolf, Laury Youngquist
Leo Floros called the meeting to order at 9:03 am. The minutes of the December meeting
were corrected to include the date of the Welcome to Mt. Prospect event on April 17,
2004. The minutes were then approved. Due to the holidays, no Financial Report was
presented.
Winter Parade: Mike Janonis reported that the parade had been a success and stated
that there will be a decision on the 2004 parade in June or July if available funds are
determined.
Holiday Decorating Contest: The event was well received but the awards were
misprinted and will be redone.
Celestial Celebration - 217: Lil Floros reported that the planning of the event is well
under way and announced the menu. Linda Hoefert reported on the decorations, Janice
Farley reported on the table favors, and Paul Seils discussed Busse Flowers plans for the
centerpieces. Commission members were requested to be at Bristol Court at 10:00 am
on February 7 to assist in the setup.
Shining Star Awards: Leo announced that 14 well-deserving awards will be presented.
Welcome to Mt. Prospect - 4/17: Discussion was held on getting more new residents to
attend the event twice a year. Linda Hoefert made a motion and Laury Youngquist
seconded the motion to purchase four $25 gift certificates for the April event from
Border's Books, Oberweis Dairy, The Comer Bakery, and Ace Hardware to be given as
door prizes at the event. The motion was approved. Corky Dunn agreed to get the
certificates. The door prizes will be mentioned in the letter sent to new residents by Dale
Draznin.
No decision has been made on an open house for the village hall and library. Leo
suggested that a committee be formed to discuss the possibilities.
The meeting adjourned at 10:02 am. The next meeting will be February 14, 2004.
