A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING "PROSPECT MARCHING KNIGHTS' DA Y"
JANUARY 2.2006
WHEREAS, the Prospect Marching Knights, under the direction of Band Director David Morrison,
are two hundred members strong and include 58 brass instruments, 67 woodwinds, 34 percussion, 38
color guard and 3 drum majors; and
WHEREAS, their achievements are testament to their remarkable and truly inspired abilities,
including, 2005, Grand Champions at the Lancer Joust in Roselle, the Chicagoland Marching Band
Festival in Wheeling and the IlIini Marching Band Festival in Champaign; and
WHEREAS, the Prospect Marching Knights, under the direction of Band Director David Morrison
have auained Grand Championship at the University of Illinois IIIini's Marching Band Festival 24
times since 1981 including the past 23 consecutive years; and
WHEREAS, the outstanding skills and abilities of the Prospect High School musicians come as a
result of countless hours of team practice, pride to deliver only the best, dedication of supportive
parents and the extraordinalY leadership of David and Judy Morrison; and
WHEREAS, the Prospect Marching Knights deliver with precision and creativity a haljiime
pe/formance during Prospect High Schooljootball games that excites, entertains and motivates failS
alld thejootballteam; and
WHEREAS, the Prospect Marching Knights entertaill and delight the community at local parades and
thousands more at performances throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, Balld Director David Morrison now completing his 29'" andjinal year at Prospect High
School before retirement has led this group of talented alld dedicated musicians to national recognitioll;
and
WHEREAS, 011 JamlalY 2, 2006 the Prospect Marchillg Knights will be pe~forming in the Tournament
(}fRoses Parade in Pasadena, California; and
WHEREAS, we recognize these youllg musicians and appreciate their talents, share in their pride and
say "thank you "for ajob well done.
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, on
behalf (}f a proud community, do hereby proclaim Monday, Jalluary 2, 2006 as "PROSPECT
MARCHING KNIGHTS' DA Y."
SECTION TWO: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect urge
all citizens to observe "Prospect Marching Knights" Day by watching the Marching Knights pe/form in
the nationally televised JanuCl/Y 2, 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade.
SECTION THREE: That all official copy of this Resolution be suitably prepared and presented to
the PROSPECT MARCHING KNIGHTS as a perpetual memento.
SECTION FOUR: That this Resolution shall be in jidlforce and effect from and qfter its passage
and approval in the manner provided by law.

RESOLUTION NO. 49 -05
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE PROSPECT KNIGHTS FOOTBALL TEAM AS IHSA
CLASS 7A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Brent Perlman and an outstanding coaching staff. the
Footbat! Knights yvere tenacious when it was rough, sllffering their only loss in the season opener; and,
WHEREAS, with the talents of the players, the teamwork of doing what needed to be done, and doing it
together, the 'WE ARE ONE" PROSPECT KNIGHTS, became undefeatable, winning their next nine
regular season games; and
WHEREAS, the PROSPECT KNIGHTS, believed in each other and were
wanted to do and ultimately accomplished one play offgame win at a time,

WHEREAS, on Friday, November 25, 2005 in Champaign, Illinois the Footbat! Knights, took on and
took down 1 () time state champion, Mt. Carmel in an unforgettable 20-14 victOlY to capture the School '.I'
third State Championship i12.five years.
WHEREAS, the Football Knights championship season and how the team played brings honor to them,
their coaches, their teachers, their parents, alumni, the student body, School District 214 and the
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board qf Trustees of the Village (!l Mount Prospect, on
behalf oj' a proud community, do hereby acknowledge and recognize the PROSPECT FOOTBALL
TEAM for their outstanding achievements during this memorable/ootball season.
SECTION TWO: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees qf the Village 0/ MOllnt Prospect do
hereby extend to Head Coach Brelll Perlman, his coaching staff and returning players high hopes for
continued success on the/ootbat!fieldfor years to come.
SECTION THREE: That the Mayor and Board oj'Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do
hereby extend best wishes to the graduating Football Knights for lifelong success and happiness ill their
future endeavors; neverforget/ing to keep reachingfor their dreams.

RESOLUTION NO. SO -OS
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE "MUSIC MAKES A DIFFERENCE" PROJECT
WHEREAS, educational research demonstrates the positive effect of music curriculum in developing
academic achievement; and
WHEREAS, learning to play an instrument provides children productive use of their time; and
WHEREAS, some Mount Prospect students are not able to take music lessons because their families do
not have the funds to rent or purchase an instrument; and
WHEREAS, Make a Difference Day has inspired many volunteers to become more engaged in their
communities and bring people of all backgrounds together to workfor the common good of the people;
and
WHEREAS, the Mount Proi>pect Community Relations Commission in partnership with Baird & Warner,
the Mount Prospect Lions Club and John Jay Elementary School organized the 2005 Make a Difference
Day Project "Music Makes a Difference "; and
WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Community Relations Commission, Baird and Warner, the Mount
Prospect Lions Club and John Jay Elementary invited community groups and residents to make a
difference in the lives of children throughout the Village by donating an unwanted but usable musical
instrument; and
WHEREAS, many cherished and perhaps some long forgotten instruments were generously donated to
enrich and nurture the positive growth and development of Mount Prospect students; and
WHEREAS, through the unified efforts of Baird and Warner and the Mount Prospect Lions Club over
twenty jive musical instruments were collected and delivered to John Jay School; and
WHEREAS, studentsfrom School District 59, School District 57, School District 26 undSchool District
21 now have the opportunity to learn an instrument and develop their talents; and
WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Community Relations Commission, Baird and Warner, the Mount
Prospect Lions Club and John Jay Elementary School are committed to the continuation of this truly
inspirational project because, "Music Makes a Difference. "
SECTION ONE: That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do hereby
acknowledge and recognize the Community Relations Commission, Baird and Warner, the Mount
Pro.\pect Lions Club and John Jay School/or their time, energy. compassion and belie/that all children
should have the opportunity to learn and benefit from the gift a/music.
SECTION TWO: That an offiCial copy of this Resolution shall be suitably prepared and presented to
the Community Relations Commission, Baird and Warner, the Mount Prospect Lions Club and John Jay
School as a perpetual memento.

A RESOLUTION FOR THE HOLIDA Y SEASON
WHEREAS, the holiday season has arrived, and it is the time of the year when, as individuals and us
a community, we reflect on our relationships with others, the goodwill that is shared, and all that
remains to be done to create a peace fit! and safe world for all,' and
WHEREAS, such a solemn, but joyous, time should include exchanges of concern, care, and love
among all people.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED BY THE MA YOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: The Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect do extend to
the citizens of Mount Prospect our sincere wishes for a joyous holiday season, and on behalf of our
entire community. we extend to evelyone a resolution of goodfaith and kindness so that there may be
peace on this earth.
