Board of 'l"rus te e s
Village of Nt. Prospect
Mount Prospect, Illinois
Gentlemen:
On February 20, 1956, I wrote to you concerning the need for
additiona.L school sites for School District No. 57, and requested your
cooperation in securing dedications from subdividers to help meet these
urgent needs. Since that tiTLe, it occurs to me that there may be cases
in which dedications are required from subdividers in areas which are
not adjacent to the sites referred to in my letter or February 20. In
some of these cases, it is possible that a dedication of small isolated
tracts of land would not be in the public interest and a cash dedication
might be in order. If there are such situations, the Board of Education
of School District No. 57 1rlould appreci8. te it if you would give con-
sideration to the possibility of making such cash dedic8.tions availabJ.e
for use in assisting in the purchase of the previously mentioned school
sites. In this way it will be possible to use the available resources
for the purchase or lands for public use in the most advantageou.s
locations.
I want to take this opportunity to ex~ress the appreciation of
the Board of Education for the cooperation which has been extended to
us in the past hy the Board of 'Trustees.

Mr. Harold G. Appleby
Village Manager
Hunicipal Building
Mount Prospect, Illinois
Re: Centralwood Subdivision
C. T. & A. #55-285
Dear Mr. Appleby:
Confirming our telephone conversation of last week in connection
vdth the installation of street and all3Y ra vements in the subject
development, our Resident Engineer, Mr. John H. Feddersen, con-
ferred with Milburn Brothers, Inc. about the possibility of in-
stalling a standard bituminous concrete pavement with combined
curb and gutter in place of the type or pavement set forth on the
plans approved by the Village Board. The proposed alleys you will
recall provide for the construction of a four (4) foot wide Port-
land cement concrete gutter located in the center of the pavement
with the pavement crown such that all storm water run-off from
said pavement would be collected and disposed of in the single
gutter.
In our opinion the standard type pavement with curb and gutter on
either side would be more desirable than that originally specified
However, the cost of the more desirable improvement would be some-
what higher. Milburn Brothers, Inc. agreed to construct the
improvements in accordance with the revision mentioned above for
a nominal addition to their contract. Hr. Feddersen contacted
1''11'. Delgado who agreed to these extra charges, and we advised the
contractor, after consultation with you, to proceed with the im-
provements.
loJe feel that the improvements as revised vJill be much more desirab
from the Village's point of view and will, we feel quite confident
reouire less maintenance cost in the future.
Very truly yours,
Consoer, Townsend & Associates
