Dear Mr. Lams:
During the past f'ew years the Village has conducted a
concentrated drive for the installation of sidewalks on residential
property. This is certainly an excellent project, however, we have
one specific problem in regard to this project.
Parents of school-age children, as well as those people
who installed sidewalks per the village request, are now concerned
with the situation at the bridge on Highway 83 over Weller Creek.
There are now sidewalks all the way from the residences of Sunset
Park to the schools, with the exception of the approaches to the
bridge. On the West side, there are not any sidewalks on either
the North or South approaches and on the East side, no sidewalk at
the North approach. During'rainy and inclement weather, it now
f'orces the children to wade through the mud or walk on the highway.
With the increasing number of children using this approach to the
schools, it is getting extremely dangerous and highly conducive for
an accident to happen.
In view of the above, we would like to request that this
situation be looked into with the thought in mind that sidewalks
be installed before the schools reopen.

We are in receipt of a License from the Chicago and North Western
