President and Board of Trustees
Village of Mount Prospect
Mount Prospect, Illinois
Gentlemen:
I appeared on Tuesday, May 7, 1957 before you in an informal
meeting to discuss some of the financial difficulties that I
have encountered since March 19, 1955, in connection with
residential construction in the Village of Mount Prospect.
Increased costs and a competitive market in home construction
today has necessitated a re-examination of costs and fees in
residential construction.
I have found that I have been dangerously close of suffering
losses in some recent transactions, and with some newly-con-
structed homes remaining unsold in Mount Prospect, I am forced
to submit to you and require your reconsideration of a memo-
randum executed March 19, 1955, between Town and Country
Construction Company, Inc., and the Village of Mount Prospect.
Without discussing the legal or technical aspeots of that
memorandum, but preferring to try to be helpful in connection
with the school problems that are confronting you in the
adminstriction of the village affairs, I submit that I am
willing to contribute and donate to School District No. 57
the sum of $1,000.00 per month until the further sum of
$12,600.00 is paid, in lieu of and upon mutual cancellation
of the memorandum of March 19, 1955.
I do not wish to burden you with the financial problems that
I have recently encountered, but in spite of them I want to
show my interest in the community and my willingness to
participate in meeting the economic prOblems and difficulties
that come with our rapidly-growing new ,'s.uburbml-area. I

be acceptable to you gentlemen I have instructed my attorney,
Edward L. S. Arkema, to meet with the attorney for the Village
to arrange for the details in furtherance of and in
completion of the arrangements hereinabove suggested.
