There being no further business to come before the
Board, a motion was made by Trustee Casterline and seconded
by Trustee Norris that the meeting be adjourned. The motion
was voted upon by acclamation, whereupon the President
declared the motion carried and the meeting regularly adjourned
at 10:45 P.M.

MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF
THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
HELD IN THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING,
MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS ON
TUESDAY, JUNE 25, 1957
The meeting was called to order by President Lams at
8:45 P.M. and the Clerk was then directed to call the roll.
On roll call, the following Trustees answered
"presentll: Trustee Broad, Casterline, Norris and
Schlavel". Trustees Airey and Willer were absent.
All Trustees having previously received copies of
the minutes of the meeting held June 18, 1957, a motion
was made by Trustee Norris and seconded by Trustee
Casterline that the minutes be accepted as corrected.
The President put the question, and the Clerk called the
roll, with the following response: Ayes: All, Nays:
None. Thereupon the President declared the motion
carried ~~d said minutes approved as corrected.
President Lams read a communication from the South-
east Civic Organization of Mount Prospect, dated JQ~e 12,
1957. This organization requested permission to hold a
bicycle and wagon parade for the small childrerl of the
area on the morning of July 4th, and further requested
permission to block off certain sections of the street
for a period of about one hour. A motion was made by
Trustee Norris and seconded by Trustee Broad that per-
m.i..ssion be granted to the Southeast Civic Organization
of Mount Prospect to conduct a parade on July 4th, as
outlined in the letter of June 12, 1957. The President
put the question, ~~d the vote was taken by acclamation,
thereupon the President declared the motion carried.
President Lams read a letter from Mrs. Suzanne
Beesley of 207 S. Wapella Avenue. Mrs. Beesley requested
permission to close off part of Wapella Avenue on July 4th
for the purpose of holding a parade.
A motion was made by Trustee Norris and seconded by
Trustee Schlaver that permission be granted to the Wapella
Avenue group to conduct a 4th of July parade. The Pres-
ident put the question, and a vote was taken by acclamation.
Thereupon the President declared the motion carried.
President Lams read a communication from Mrs.
Erwin Koepke of 504 S. Main Street. Mrs. Koepke
requested permission to hold a block party in the
500 block on Main Street on July the 4th. A motion
was made by Trustee Schlaver and seconded by Trustee
Casterline that the communication from lVIrs. Erwin
Koepke of 504 S. Main Street be referred to the Police
Department for their investigation and recommendations.
The President put the question, and the vote was taken
by acclamation. Thereupon the President declared the
motion carried.

President Lams then read a letter from Mrs. Warren
B. Broadbent of 402 S. Wapella Avenue. Mrs. Broadbent
requested the waiver of the $100.00 fee normally require(
for the use of a loud speaker in a rixed location as
covered by Village Ordinance. This letter was rererred
to the Village Attorney for his consideration.
President Lams then read a letter from Mount
Prospect Chamber of Commerce, in which plans were out-
lined to conduct a gigantic 4th of July celebration. A
motion was made by Trustee Schlaver and seconded by
Trustee Broad that permission be granted to the Mount
Prospect Chamber of Commerce to conduct a 4th of July
celebration as outlined. The vote was taken by
acclamation. Thereupon the President declared the
motion carried.

TO i'HE VILLAGE BOARD OF MOUNT PROSPECT:
We, the undersigned neighbors are disgusted with the fire
hazard in back of our homes.

Every business man should have an incinerator to take car
of his own rubbage without infringing on the rights or
others who must put up with flames flying on their
property.

Trustee Schlaver read ORDINANCE NO. 557, WHICH
PROPOSED iRE DISCONNECTING OF CERTAIN TERRITORY FROM i'HE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT. A mati on was made by Trustee
Schlaver and seconded by 'I'rustee Norris that Ordina"lce
No. 557 be passed. The President put the question and
the Clerk called the roll, with the following response:
Ayes: All; Nays: None. Absent: Trustees Airey and
Willer. Thereupon the President declared the motion
carried and said Ordinance passed.
Trustee Schlaver referred to a proposed ordinance
pertaining to streets and sidewalks and other public
improvements. A motion was made by Trustee Schlaver
and seconded by Trustee Norris that this pr~posed Ord-
inance be tabled. The President put the question, and
a vote was taken by acclamation, whereupon the President
declared the motion carried and said ordinance tabled.
Trustee Schlaver referred to a proposed ordinance.
"An Ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 33011. Thi s ord-
inance would require the construction and repair of
sidewalks in connection with building permits. A motion
was made by 'I'rustee Schlaver and seconded bJ' Trustee
Broad that this proposed ordinance be tabled. The Pres-
ident put the question and a vote was ,taken by acclamatiOJ
whereupon the President declared the motion carried and
said ordinance tabled.

PLAT
Trustee Schlaver submitted a proposed p.a,.t of Gleich's
Industrial Park. It was moved by Trustee Schlaver and
seconded by Trustee Norris that this plat be submitted to
the Plan Commission for their study and recommendations.
The President put the question, and the vote was taken by
acclamation. Thereupon the President declared the motion
carried.
Trustee Schlaver submitted a plat of a proposed sub-
division to be known as Hatlen Heights Estates, Unit No.3.
A motion was made by Trustee Schlaver and seconded by
Trustee Norris t~~t this plat be referred to the Plan Comm-
ission for their study and recommendation. The President
put the question, and a vote was taken by acclamation.
Thereupon the President declared the motion carried.
Trustee Schlaver submitted 3 bids for painting "1IlJ:olli"lt
Prospectll on the elevated storage tank, and for replacing
lamps on top of the storage tank PS necessary. A motion
was made by Trustee Schlaver and seconded by Trustee Broad
that the bid of Naumann Company of 946 West 69th Street,
in Chicago, Illinois be accepted and the contract be awarded
to the Naumann Company to paint the words IlMount Prospe ct"
on the elevated storage tank and to replace la~ps as necessary.
Such work to be in accordance with specification8 as established
by Village Engineers. Discussion ensued, which involved
co:~ments from citizens present. Trustee Broad withdrew
his second, and Trustee Scnlaver withdrew the motion
pending investigation of previously agreed contract under
which the water tank was originally painted.
A matter concerning water for the drinking fountains
in Emerson Street Park was discussed. It was the recommend-
ation of TrusteeSchlaver that water be turned on and that
30 days be allowed for meters to be installed to meter the
water used at the drinking fountains.
Trustee Broad read RESOLUTION 11-57; a resolution
authorizing the request of Mrs. Warren B. Broadbent of
402 S. Wapella Avenue for the use of a public loud
speaker on July 4, 1957 without the application of the
provisions of Article VII, Chapter 24 of the Municipal
Code of Mount Prospect. A motion was made by Trustee
Broad and seconded by 'I'rustee Norris that Resolution
No. 11-57 be adopted. The President put the question
and the Clerk called the roll, with the following
response: Ayes: All; Nays: None. Absent: Trustees
Airey and Willer. Thereupon the President declared the
motion carried and said resolution adopted.
A motion was made by Trustee Broad and seconded by
Trustee Norris. The motion was as follows: "Resolve
that the Board of Trustees advise the County Board of
Co~missioners, Cook County, Illinois that the objection
heretofor filed with said County Board relative to the
proposed rezoning of property of R. J. Bluett & Sons,
developers of the subdivision to be known as Bluett's
Fairview Gardens be wi thdrawn. II 'fhe President put the
question and the Clerk called the roll, with the follow-
ing response: . Ayes: Trustee Broad and Norris. Nays:
Trustees Casterline and Schlaver. President Lams voted
Nay. Absent: Trustees Airey and Willer. Tnereupon the
President declared the motion defeated.
President Lams then read RESOLUTION 12-57, adopting
rules and regulations for the Police Department of the
Village of Mount Prospect. A motion was made by Trustee
Casterline and seconded by Trustee Norris that Resolution
12-57 be adopted. Ibe President put the question and the
Clerk called the roll, with the following response: Ayes:
All, Nays: None. Absent: Trustees Airey and Willer.
Thereupon the President declared the motion carried and
said Resolution adopted.

The dust problem on that portion of Lincoln and
Maple Streets immediately West of Lions Park was discusse
A motion was made by Trustee Norris and second~d by
Trustee Broad that the Village Engineers be authorized
to prepare an e stima te of the cos t for paving that
portion of Lincoln Street from Emerson to Maple, that
portion of Maple Street from Lincoln to Sha-Bonee Trail,
and that portion of Sha-Bonne Trail from Maple Street
to the present paved surface. Standard I-II construction
to be used and proposed paving to be 31 feet in width.

A request for s top signs at the intersection of
Emerson Street and Lincoln Street was submitted by
citizens. This matter was referred to Chi ef of Police
Whittenberg.
Village Manager Appleby referred to a permit No.
1957-106 from the Chicago Sanitary District. A motion
was made by Trustee Norris and seconded by Trustee Broad
that the Village Manager be authorized to sign permit
No. 1957-106 on behalf of the Village of Mount Prospect.
The President put the question and the vote was taken
by acclamation. Thereupon the President declared the
motion carried.
