Illinois 60056 BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS Phone 847/870-5656 MINUTES September 13, 2005 Fire Administrative Conference Room, 2nd Floor Chairman McKillop called the meeting to order at 5:38 p.m. Roll Call: Robert McKillop, Chairman Clyde Brooks, Commissioner Marie Cotten, Secretary George Busse, Commissioner (arrived at 5:55 p.m.) Absent: John Arndt, Commissioner Also Present: Michael Figolah, Fire Chief John Malcolm, Deputy Fire Chief John Dahlberg, Deputy Chief of Police APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Commissioner Cotten and seconded by Commissioner Brooks to accept the minutes of the August 23, 2005, Open Meeting. Voice vote: Ayes: Brooks, Cotten, McKillop Nays: None Motion carried APPROVE POLICE OFFICER ELIGIBILITY REGISTER" Deputy Chief Dahlberg presented the Police Officer Eligibility Register II to the Board for their approval. A motion was made by Commissioner Cotten and seconded by Commissioner Brooks to approve the Police Officer Eligibility Register II. Voice vote: Ayes: Brooks, Cotten, McKillop Nays: None Motion carried Commissioner Busse arrived at 5:55 p.m. Chairman McKillop informed the Board that letters were sent to two candidates notifying them that they do not qualify for further consideration as a candidate for police officer. After a brief discussion, the following motion was made. A motion was made by Commissioner Brooks and seconded by Commissioner Busse to endorse Chairperson McKillop's decision to exclude Mr. Shipley from further participation in the hiring process. Voice vote: Ayes: Brooks, Busse, Cotten, McKillop Nays: None Motion carried POLICE DEPARTMENT - SERGEANT EXAM Deputy Chief Dahlberg reported that the merit and efficiency part of the process was held yesterday. As soon as the results are calculated, they will be forwarded to the Chairman. The written exam will be held on Monday, September 19th and the assessment center will be on September 29th and 30th. Page 2 Minutes 9/13/05 POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE Deputy Chief Dahlberg provided the Board with an update on police department personnel. He als.o advised the Board that is leaving Saturday morning for Washington, D.C. where he will spend four days in training with the National Diversity Recruiting Conference. FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE Chief Figolah reported the Fire Department is currently at full status. CORRESPONDENCE No information to discuss. OTHER BUSINESS Chairman McKillop would like to see the Board review the oral interview questions at a future meeting. The Board concurred. Commissioner Busse will meet with the Chief's to discuss the recruiting policy.
