PROCLAMA TION
"MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY"
OCTOBER 22, 2005
WHEREAS, Make a Difference Day, which is held on the fourth Saturday
of October every year, is a day dedicated to community volunteer work; and
WHEREAS, this national day of service is regarded as a challenge to citizens,
to help those less fortunate in any way they can; and
WHEREAS, Make a Difference Day was founded to promote volunteer efforts
that make our community a better, cleaner, safer place to live, work and play; and
WHEREAS, Make a Difference Day has inspired many volunteers to become
more engaged in their communities and bring people of all backgrounds together
to workfor the common good of the people; and
WHEREAS, a day of volunteerism and community service is valuable to the
community, and gives a feeling of accomplishment and compassion to every
participant.
NOW, THERE"FORE, 1, Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount
Prospect, do hereby proclaim October 22, 2005 as
"MAKE A DIFFERENCE DA Y"
in the Village of Mount Prospect, and I urge my fellow citizens to observe this day
by joining with friends, family, and colleagues to engage in projects benefiting
their community.

UNA TIONAL FRENCH WEEK"
NOVEMBER 2-8,2005
WHEREAS, education is the process by which one generation passes on to the next
generation both the knowledge of "how to learn" as well as a zest and passionfor thejoy
of learning itself; and
WHEREAS, the success of achieving these lofty goals is mankind's insurance policy for
the future; and
WHEREAS, in the study of foreign languages people have an immediate bridge to
international understanding and cooperation; and
WHEREAS, the study of the French language by generations of American youth has
fostered greater understanding and an appreciationfor the people and cultures of France
and the French-speaking world; and
WHEREAS, this study will continue to bridge the miles that separate the students afthe
United States with those regions of the French-speaking world.
WHEREAS, since 2000, the Village of Mount Prospect has enjoyed a Sister City
relationship with Sevres, France, the primary purpose of which is to create an
exchange between the people of both communities to create an understanding of
each others' cultures.
NOW, THEREFORE, J, Jrvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect,
do hereby proclaim the week of November 2-8, 2005 as
"NA TIONAL FRENCH WEEK"
in the Village of Mount Prospect, and J urge all residents to express their appreciation to
those community educators who are truly "cultural ambassadors" in their role as
teachers of French.

UNITED STATES MARINE WEEK
November 6 -13, 2005
WHEREAS, The United States Marine Corp has protected citizens and guarded their
freedomfor the past 230 years; and
WHEREAS, Our county has established a position of world leadership, the Marines
have proven themselves as dedicated professionals willing to defend lives and protect
the rights valued by Americans; and
WHEREAS, A Marine is trained to hold his ground against any odds and to always
be faithful to God, Country and Corps, standing ready to fight anytime, anywhere, the
President or Congress may designate; and
WHEREAS, The term "Marine" has been associated with courage and militwy
efficiency, since its creation on November 10. 1775 in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, The people of the Village of Mount Prospect are proud of its rich
contribution to the Marine tradition and salute the Marines serving around the globe:
NOW, THEREFORE, L Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect,
do hereby declare the period from November 6th through November 13th, 2005 as
UNITED STATES MARINE WEEK
and I exhort all citizens to join with me in this salute as we express our gratitude to
those who have served and those who are now serving to protect our nation and its
freedoms.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE
VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT,
COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SEmON ONE: That in accordance with Subsection A of Section 13.108 of Chapter 13 of the Village Code of
Mount Prospect, as amended, the Corporate Authorities shall determine the number of Liquor Licenses
available in each Classification and shall establish a list specifying the number of Liquor Licenses authorized.
Said list is hereby amended by decreasing the number of Class P Liquor Licenses by one (1) Mt.
Prospect CVS, LLC., d/b/a CVS/Pharmacy #2799, One East Rand Road and decreasing the number of
Class R Liquor Licenses by one (1) Rufini, Inc., d/b/a Rufini's Italian Restaurant, Two West Busse Avenue.
