PROSPECT POLICE AND FIRE HEADQUARTERS, MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS.

DUE TO ATTENDANCE, THERE WAS NO QUORUM AND THE MINUTES FROM THE MAY 04,
2005 YOUTH COMMISSION MEETINGS WERE NOT APPROVED

MR. GEORGE CLOWES ATTENDED THE YOUTH COMMISSION MEETING TO DISCUSS THE
NEXT YOUTH COMMISSION YOUTH VIEW PROGRAMS ON BICYCLE HELMET SAFETY AND
NEWLY ELECTED MAYOR IRVANA WILKS.
THE BICYCLE HELMET SAFETY YOUTH VIEW TAPING IS SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, JUNE
28, 2005 AT 7:00 P.M. A/A PATTI WALPOLE TO CONTACT INDIAN GROVE SCHOOL AND
INVITE MS. WEISS AND HER STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE YOUTH VIEW PROGRAM.
SECRETARY CINDY RUMORE TO CONTACT MR. NORBERT BUDDE AND INVITE THE
CHICAGOLAND BICYCLE FEDERATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DISCUSSION.
THE YOUTH VIEW TAPING WITH MAYOR IRVANA WILKS TO BE SCHEDULED AT A LATER
DATE.
BICYCLE HELMET COMMITTEE – ANDREW STEINWEG – ALYSSA HILLMAN – NICOLE
LOGISZ – JUSTYNA MILEWSKI, DEREK STEINWEG
A/A DAVID SCHEIN REPORTED BRENT BUSSE MADE THE PRESENTATION TO THE VILLAGE
BOARD TUESDAY, MAY 17, 2005 ON THE YOUTH COMMISSION’S RECOMMENDATIONS FOR
THE BICYCLE HELMET SAFETY ISSUE; FOR AN INCENTIVE PROGRAM AND FURTHER
EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN THE COMMUNITY.
MEMBERS DISCUSSED IMPLEMENTING AN EDUCATION PROGRAM THROUGH THE LOCAL
SCHOOLS. SUGGESTIONS OF EDUCATION THROUGH THE CRIME PREVENTION UNIT
OFFICER FRIENDLY PROGRAM, BICYCLE HELMET INFORMATION PACKETS TO BE
DISTRIBUTED TO SCHOOLS, AND/OR INFORMATION THROUGH MORNING
ANNOUNCEMENTS.
JUSTYNA MILEWSKI CONTACTED THE MOUNT PROSPECT PUBLIC LIBRARY REGARDING
THE AVAILABILITY OF THEIR DISPLAY CASES FOR A BICYCLE HELMET DISPLAY. ALL
CASES ARE FILLED THROUGH THE END OF THE YEAR AND ARE AVAILABLE ON A
LOTTERY BASIS. THE DISPLAY CASE LOTTERY TAKES PLACE IN NOVEMBER FOR THE
FOLLOWING YEAR. A/A PATTI WALPOLE SPOKE TO LIBRARY OFFICIALS AND WAS
ADVISED A 3D DISPLAY WOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR USE IN THE YOUTH AREA THIS
SUMMER. ALYSSA HILLMAN TO CONTINUE THE LIBRARY DISPLAY PROJECT.
