MT. PROSPECT SPECIAL EVENTS COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
April 9, 2005
ATTENDEES: Bob Ancona, Dale Draznin, Janice Farley, Jill Friedrichs, Leo Floros,
Lil Floros, Eileen Gattas, Martha Helm, Linda Hoefert, Paul Seils, Teresa Wolf
Lil Floros called the meeting to order at 9:06 am. The minutes of the March meeting and
the Financial Report as of March 31,2005, were approved.
Art Fair - 6/25, 10am-5pm: Teresa Wolf reported that a final count of38 artists have
registered. LePeep, Photo's Hot Dogs, and Capannari's will be providing the food.
The Mt. Prospect Park District will have dancers performing. Teresa asked for assistance
during the check-in time for the artists to set up between 6:30-7 am and for the children's
painting booth. She also reported that seven school desks are being donated by the
Historical Society to be painted by artists. The desks will be auctioned off at a later date.
Playground Pals: Leo Floros made a motion with a second ITom Jill Friedrichs to have
the Commission donate $500 to the River Trails Park District Playground Pals which
helps underprivileged children enjoy the summer. The motion was approved.
Welcome to Mt. Prospect - 4/16, 9am-l0:30am: Dale Draznin reported that invitations
have been mailed. Tuccio's will provide the cookies. Some of the silver star boxes and
toy dump trucks will be among the items raffled.
Sister City Event: Janice Farley reported that 13 people ITom Sievres France had
arrived on March 29. They toured Chicago and Mt. Prospect. There was a potlûtk
dinner, rededication of the peace pole, and dinner at Retro Bistro. Everyone, with the
exception of two, went home to France on April 2.
4th of July Parade: Jill Friedrichs reported that the theme for the 2005 parade will be
"Family.. .Friends... Summertime" and that 166 unit applications have been mailed
Do- It-Yourself Sousa: Martha Helm reported that the event will be held on Monday,
August 1, to follow the other Monday night Concerts in the Park. Postcards have been
sent to the past participants to remind them to save the date.
Bike Ride: Bob Ancona reported that the tentative date for the event is October 8.
Subsequently, the date of October 1 was scheduled. Leo Floros will contact John
Eilering at Mt. Prospect National Bank for sponsorship.
The meeting adjourned at 10:10 am. The next meetinf! will be held on May 14.
