MOUNT PROSPECT SISTER CITIES COMMISSION

The meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m.
Judy Thome asked that the shirt order be added to the agenda under other business.
The minutes from January 12, 2005 meeting were approved with the change of adding Lil Floros to members absent.
Melanie asked to be added to the agenda to read an email from Rolande on the condition of Louise Bompaire
following her surgery.

Greg Minter from Prospect High School was introduced and spoke about upcoming exchange between students from
Sèvres and Prospect. 10 Students from Prospect (9 girls and 1 boy) have been matched up with students in Sèvres.
They have been emailing back and forth. Our students are leaving here March 24 and returning April 2. The French
students are coming here April 23 - May 2. Their evenings and weekends are open for host family activities. Mr.
Minter said he came to seek input from the Commission and invite them to participate during that week, possibly as
chaperones or in other ways. The possibility of having a reception for them at Village Hall was raised on Thursday,
April 28. Staff will check on the availability of the community center rooms.
Report on Hoffman Estates Event
Dorothy, Rachel and Judy attended. There was a three-course dinner with wine and a silent auction. They spoke with
Hoffman Estates and Palatine about possibly hosting a joint event. Hoffman Estates is having a French expo on
April 16. Visiting culinary students from France will be in attendance.

The date was set for October 27. The commission decided it is a good fundraiser and promotes the Sister Cities
program.
A Banquet subcommittee was formed: Chaired by Carole Bloomquist, Lil Floras, Rachel Toeppen, Judy Thome,
Mary Ann Sibrava, Janice Farley and Dorothy Kucera.
Sèvres Visit to Mount Prospect
They reviewed the schedule for the visit. They group arrives on Tuesday, March 29. Wednesday they will spend the
day touring Chicago, Thursday will be the tour of Mount Prospect, followed by the pot luck dinner. Friday they will
have breakfast with the rotary clubs, followed by a rededication of the Peace Pole, a tour of Village Hall and lunch
at Village Hall. Friday afternoon is free. Friday evening dinner is at Retro Bistro.
Shirt Order
Judy Thome presented the shirts again with a new style shirt for $19.
Other
Melanie reported on the condition of Louise Bompaire following back surgery. It was agreed the commission would
send her a card.
The meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for March 17, 2005.
