RESOLUTION NO.
50-82
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTENT OF THE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT TO CONTINUE AS A MEMBER OF THE
INTERGOVERNMENTAL RISK MANAGEMENT AGENCY
'WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is currently a Member
lof the Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency (IRMA); and
¡WHEREAS, the initial term of IRMA was established by Contract
II and By-Laws as being five (5) years; and
I~ WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village of
,!Mount Prospect believe that its membership in IRMA has been
a bene'fi t to its citizens, both in terms of financial savings
and in terms of increasing the control òf the municipality
II' over the management and prevention of risks; and
!WHEREAS, the end of the first five-year term of IRMA will
¡Itake place on December 31, 1983 and the Board of Directors
¡¡Of IRMA has requested an expression of intent by each of the
existing IRMA Members as to whether such communities are
I interested in participating in a continuation in the term of
I the AGENCY; and
'¡IWHEREAS, the future term of the AGENCY has been proposed
to be a minimum of four (4) years and a maximum of seven (7)
years; and
'WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village of
',j'Mount Prospect desire to pass a Resolution indicating the
intent of the Village of Mount Prospect to continue its
!,participation as a Member of IRMA; and
IWHEREAS, the passage of this Resolution, although expressing
II'the intent of the Village of Mount prospec.t, is continger.t upon
,a final study and review of this matter and the passage of
[iSUCh ordinances or resolutions .as are eventually deemed
¡necessary to formally continue membership in. the organization.
¡NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE. Mi\Y()R AND.. BOl\RD . OF TRUSTEES
,OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
!ISECTION ONE: Having determined that the continued membership
Ilof the Village of. Mount Prospect in the Intergovernmental Risk
I...~.. anagement Agency is in the best interests of the citizens of
I' ount Prospect, we hereby express our intent to continue as a
r ember of that AGENCY after the termination of the initial
riVe-year term on December 31, 1983.
SECTION TWO: The Corporate Authorities of the Village of
ount Prospect pledge to promptly consider and review such
I aterials as are submitted to it for the continuation of the
'~GENCY and to promptly act upon such doc~ments. The
IForporate Authorities commend those persons from Mount Prospect
and other Members of IRMA who have served as members and
~lternate members of the Board of Directors. Through the
bfforts of these public servants, each community which is a
IMember of IRMA has saved substantial amounts as against
Ibbonventional insurance premiums and has enjoyed a new control
. ver an important and potentially costly area of municipal
Iitperations. The effective manner in which more than 30 Illinois
I unicipalities have worked together in the spirit of
, ommunity and cooperation is a good indication of

,I~he feasibility and effectiveness of intergovernmental
,~.. gencies as authorized by the Constitution and statutes of
l!the State of Illinois.
. ECTION THREE: This Resolution shall be in full force and
I ffect from and after its passage and approval in the manner
