Northwest Highway Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS Phone 847/870-5656 Ext 303 MINUTES July 17, 2000 PRESENT: HENRY FRIEDRICHS, Chairman MARIE COTTEN, Secretary CHRISTOPHER LENZ, Commissioner CLAUDE BJORK, Commissioner ROBERT McKILLOP, Commissioner MICHAEL FIGOLAH, Fire Chief JOHN MALCOLM, Deputy Fire Chief THOMAS DALEY, Deputy Police Chief Chairman Friedrichs call the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Commissioner Lenz and seconded by Commissioner Bjork to accept the minutes of the Open Meeting of May 2, 2000. Upon roll call: Ayes: Nayes: Friedrichs, Cotten, Lenz, Bjork, McKillop None Motion carried. A motion was made by Commissioner Bjork and seconded by Commissioner Cotten to accept the minutes of the Executive Session of May 2, 2000. Upon roll call: Ayes: Nays: Friedrichs, Cotten, Lenz, Bjork, McKillop None Motion carried. A motion was made by Commissioner McKillop and ssconded by Commissioner Cotten to accept the minutes of the Open Meeting of May 15, 2000. Upon roll call: Ayes: Nays: Friedrichs, Cotten, Lenz, Bjork, McKillop None Motion carried. , EXECUTIVE SESSION A motion was made by Commissioner Lenz and seconded by Commissioner McKillop to enter into Executive Session to discuss promotional testing for the Fire Department. The Commission went into Executive Session at 6:05 p.m. Chairman Friedrichs reconvened in Open Session 6:55 p.m. A motion was made by Commissioner Lenz and seconded by Commissioner Bjork to look at other vendors for the written examination portion of the Fire Department's promotional examinations. Upon roll call: Ayes: Nays: Friedrichs, Cotten, Lenz, Bjork, McKillop None Motion carried. A motion was made by Commissioner Cotten and seconded by Commissioner McKillop to accept Chief Figolah's recommendations for changes in the scoring criteria for the Fire Department's promotional pre-screening process; 30% on a combined local and general knowledge written test, 30% on merit & efficiency, 30% on the simulator and 10% on the writing exercise. Upon roll call: Ayes: Nays: Friedrichs, Cotten, Lenz, Bjork, McKillop None Motion carried. A motion was made by Commissioner Lenz and seconded by Commissioner Cotten to change the previous minimum requirement of scoring 80% on each component of the Fire Department promotional pre-screening test to an overall average of 80%. Upon roll call: Ayes: Nays: Firedrichs, Cotten, Lenz, Bjork, McKillop None Motion carried. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned on a unanimous vote at 7:00p.m. ~.
