IV. DISCUSSION REGARDING EXOTIC ANIMAL REGULATIONS
During the identification of 1998 Committee of the Whole discussion topics, Trustee Hoefert asked
that consideration be given to reviewing and, perhaps, updating current Village Code Sections
governing the keeping of exotic animals. The term "exotic animals" is somewhat nebulous and
arguably take in a whole range of mammals, birds, amphibians, etc. In discussions with Trustee
Hoefert, I believe his focus is on those types of animals which by their nature cannot be, or are not
normally, confined by leashes, cages or wholly contained on the owner's property. Bees and pigeons
are an example.
At this time, staff has reviewed the Village's existing rules and regulations in this area. We have also
surveyed other communities to determine what, if anything, they do. The purpose of Tuesday
evenings' discussion will be to review the staff repot[ and solicit direction from Village Board members
regarding scope and direction of additional regulations. Staff will be on hand to facilitate such
discussion.
V. VILLAGE COMPUTER PROJECT STATUS REPORT
During Budget discussions, staff indicated that they would provide Village Board members with a
status report regarding the implementation of the Village-wide computer system, Assistant Village
Manager Dave Strahl and MIS Coordinator Joan Middleton will review a series of topics covering
critical aspects of system upgrade and implementation. Much of the material is provided for
information purposes only, however, there are some topics which will require input and direction from
the Village Board such as accelerated server upgrades, expansion of the Village's Home Page and
wide area network connections.
Your information package includes an overview memorandum along with a series of reports
addressing specific items, Dave Strahl and Joan Middleton will be in attendance to facilitate
discussion and answer questions.
