Recommended cin Adopt an ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus vehicles and equipmentutilizing
GovDeals online auctions. Additionally, staff requests the second reading waived.
Information
Staff has orderedand/or placed into service various new vehicles/equipment need to sell old surplus vehicles that
are no longer needed. The attached ordinance allows the Village sell surplus items through GovDealsInternet
auction or alternative method. Also, attached is a detailedlist of items to be declaredsurplus (Exhibit ).
One the items we aredeclaring surplus is the Elgin Pelican sweeper that was declared a total loss from our third
partyinsurance carrier,, IRMA. They have solicited salvagebids for this sweeper and awardedthe bid to the highest
bidder, REK,, Inc. out of Pickens, . Their bid came i other bids were $25,000.00 and lower. We
fel this price is better than what can be realized r online auction, GovDeals.com.
GovDeals Internet uction provides a cost effective means to sell surplus r r nationwide. The total
administrative fee for utilizing this service is 7.5% of the final sales price, with the buyer paying the service fee.
We have had great success over the last several years utilizing GovDeals s our main method of disposal. Our total
sales have reached from 7 items andprices have nr Il resulted i - % premium over
comparative live auctionsales.

ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS PERSONAL PROPERTY
OWNED BY THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 11-76-4 of the Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILLS 5111-
76-4), the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Mount Prospect may dispose of personal
property owned by the Village when, in the opinion of a simple majority of the Corporate
Authorities, such property is no longer necessary or useful to, or for the best interests of, the
Village; and
WHEREAS, President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect deem it
no longer necessary, useful or in the best interests of the Village to retain the personal property
described in Exhibit A, which is attached hereto and incorporated herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY,
ILLINOIS, ACTING IN THE EXERCISE OF ITS HOME RULE POWER:
SECTION ONE: The personal property, described in Exhibit A, is declared to be
surplus personal property because it is no longer necessary, useful or in the best interests of the
Village to retain.
SECTION TWO: The Village Manager, or his designee, is authorized to dispose of the
Surplus Property in the manner described in Exhibit A.
SECTION THREE: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
