MINUTES
February 4, 2019

Acting Chairperson Busse called the meeting to order at 5:49 p.m,
Roll Call: Mark Busse, Acting Chairperson
Rockne Bork, Commissioner
Jeanna Claussen, Commissioner
Excused: James Powers, Chairperson
William Knee, Commissioner
Also Present: John Koziol, Police Chief
John Dolan, Deputy Fire Chief

No one in attendance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Acting Chairperson Busse asked for a motion to approve the Open Session minutes of January 7, 2019.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Claussen.
Roll Call: Ayes: Bork, Busse, Claussen Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried

A motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Claussen.

FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Deputy Fire Chief Dolan reported the Diversity Committee met last week to discuss ways to increase
public education on fire service as a career. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fire Station will
be on April 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Koziol reported on staffing and the candidate currently going through the hiring process,
NEW HIRE TEST FOR POLICE OFFICER
Chief Koziol reported the department flyer for the new police recruit test is out. There was a discussion
on the various advertising and recruitment career fairs for the test. Chief Koziol reported the orientation
would take place right before the written test on April 14. Additionally, Chief Koziol shared information he
received on the Juvenile Court Act, which led to a discussion regarding the application and interview.

CLOSED SESSION
Acting Chairperson Busse asked for a motion to go into closed session:
1. Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) -The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline,
performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing
testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity
2. To Approve the Closed Session Minutes of January 7 and January 8.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Claussen to go into Closed Session at
6:12 p.m.
Roll Call: Ayes: Bork, Busse, Claussen Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried
The Board returned to open session at 6:16 P.M.
Roll Call: Acting Chairman Busse, Commission Claussen, and Commissioner Bork.
There was a discussion regarding the March meeting, as some members will be on vacation.
With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner
Claussen to adjourn the meeting at 6:27 p.m.
