DISCUSSION ITEMS Subject 4.2 PulsePoint Presentation Access Public Type Information Public Content 71-, 1 = Page I of 2 The Fire Department is continuously looking for ways to further improve the quality of life to both our residents and those wh visit Mount Prospect. We invest in our Paramedic program and our ability to provide excellent emergency medical service. Th Fire Department also recognizes opportunities to include and increase engagement between our community and our firs responders. The PulsePoint App can enhance the existing culture of action within Mount Prospect. Staff recognize the potenti value in PulsePoint and we approached the Northwest Central Dispatch Joint Executive Committee to evaluate PulsePoint. Th Committee membership consists fire and police chiefs from all the communities dispatched by Northwest Central Dispatch. I The PulsePoint app connects to the 911 dispatch center to CPR trained citizens via a mobile app on their smartphones, a, informing them that someone nearby is having a sudden cardiac arrest event. This process has the ability to increask" survivability through early citizen CPR. The Fire Department is currently working with Northwest Central Dispatch and Northwest Community Hospital"s Emergency Medical Services to determine funding options and the program"s viability. The Department"s current computer aided dispatch (CAD) system at Northwest Central Dispatch does not support PulsePoint software. PulsePoint software is supported by our new CAD system which is scheduled to be operational at the end of 2019. The cost of the software and installation is a one-time fee of $10,000. The annual subscription costs is $13,000 which covers 300,000-750,000 population community. Northwest Central Dispatch covers a community of just under 500,000. The cost fo under 300,000 in population is $8,000 annually. Northwest Central Dispatch Center dispatches 11 different fire department PulsePoint is able to work with individual communities or any combination. I The presentation will review the PulsePoint app and all of its capabilities. Staff will also review additional options, key statistics, and the history of PulsePoint.
