Approve a resolution in support of a renewal of a Cook County Class 6b tax incentive for th
property located at 603 E. Kensington Rd. i
Attached to this memorandum is a resolution that would grant approval of a renewal of a Class 6b property tax incentive for
Peterson Roofing, Inc., for their property located at 603 E. Kensington Road. The renewal would be for an additional 12 years
and would enable them to maintain their roofing operation in their current location for the foreseeable future.
The Village has granted several Cook County Class 6b tax incentives to attract and retain businesses. The 6b incentive reduces
the assessment level for qualified manufacturing and warehouse/distribution facilities from 25% to 10% for the first 10 years,
15% for year 11 and 20% in year 12. After year 12, the assessment level returns to the full 25% for the benefiting property.
The 6b incentive can also be renewed for additional 12 -year terms if supported by the Village.
Peterson Roofing currently employs approximately 40 individuals at their facility. They are a full service roofing company that
has been serving the northwest suburbs since 1978, providing high quality roofing, siding and insulation services.
The Applicant is requesting the Class 6b abatement to maintain their taxes at around $1.50 per square foot for their property.
If the extension is not granted, they estimate that their tax bill would rise to $3.50 per square foot. Similar properties in nearby
Lake and DuPage County range from $1 to $1.50 per square foot.
1. Approve a resolution in support of a renewal of a Cook County Class 6b tax incentive for the property located at 603 E.
Kensington Rd.
. Action at discretion of Village Board.

Re: 603 E. Kensington Rd. (Formerly 601)
Resolution No. 36-09
To: Mount Prospect Village Board of Directors,
This letter is in regards to the renewal of the 6B property tax incentive, resolution No. 36-09.
Peterson Roofing still offers the following values to the community:
HEM 1) Employment of approximately 40 people
2) Benevolent contributions within the community
3) Commerce through services:
a. Materials we purchase
b. Services we use
c. Services we provide
d. Generate approximately $5 million of annual revenue
CM
CO The original 6B incentive was the main factor in our decision to make Mount Prospect our home and since
CM our move -in date of 12/2009, we have provided additional value:
1) Hired seven (7) new employees who reside in Mount Prospect
2) Donated new roof to the "old school" historical building (Donated and installed weather vain
for 2019)
3) Donated new roofs to four (4) different Mount Prospect homeowners who were in financial
distress, one being a WWII vet. (All names and addresses on file) (Donated in profitable years)
BOOM
In closing, I am asking the village of Mount Prospect to support Peterson Roofing in regards to a municipal
ordinance approving renewal of the 6B incentive. According to the Cook County Assessor, the new
ordinance must reference the original ordinance, including the original resolution number (36-09) that
approved the initial term of incentive. (A letter in lieu may be submitted pending resolution)
Thank You!
Sincerely,
P
