ELMHURST} Access Public Type Action Public Content M191IF-Ira On Thursday January 3, 2019, the Village Manager, Executive Assistant, and Community Development Director met with entrepreneurs Matthew Nurre and Jesse Zien regarding their request for the creation of a new Class "S-8" liquor license. The Classlicense provides for the manufacture and delivery of beer or distilled spirits for on premise or off premist consumption by a craft brewery or distillery and for guided tours of its facility. This license would be the first distillery license issued wn the Village of Mount Prospect. Matthew Nurre, a local resident, is a Master Distiller who double majored in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University o Iowa. Mr. Zien is an Operations Manager with a MBA from Loyola who oversaw all aspects of operations at a $1.5 billion dolla company. Both are co-founders of Two Eagles Distillery. I The Village first met Mr. Nurre and Mr. Zien in June of 2017 when they approached the Village with their business plan for small batch, hand crafted spirits distillery seeking a location in Mount Prospect. In July of 2017, the Village Board amended th Class "S-8" brewery classification to include craft distillery necessary to process their request for such a license. Over the nex I year, the Fire Marshall and Building Inspector conducted several onsite visits to various Mount Prospect locations with 1852 S Elmhurst meeting production capabilities and compliance with all Village codes. 1 Two Eagles is targeting the distilled spirits specifically focusing on vodka, whiskeys and craft cocktails. The intended markets will be a mix of bar, restaurant and retail. The distillery plans to use Midwest grown grain and leverage products from the USA, eventually developing a unique spirit from local farms. All Federal permits have been acquired and Two Eagles expects production of product for sale to restaurants and stores by April 2019. No direct sales to the public is expected at this time. Alternatives 1. Motion to approve the Ordinance. 2. Action at discretion of Village Board Staff Recommendation A completed application along with fees and required documents has been submitted. The applicant's fingerprints and background check are on file. Said list is hereby amended increasing the number of Class "S-8" Liquor Licenses by One (1) TWO EAGLES DISTILLERY LLC d/b/a/ TWO EAGLES DISTILLERY located at 1852 S.
