MINUTES
September 24, 2018

Chairperson Powers called the meeting to order at 5:46 p.m,

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairperson Powers asked for a motion to approve the Open Session Minutes of August 6, 2018.
A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Knee.
Roll Call: Ayes: Busse, Claussen, Knee, Powers Nays: None Abstain: None Motion Carried

A motion was made by Commissioner Knee and seconded by Commissioner Claussen.

No one in attendance.
POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Koziol reported with only three (3) candidates left on the current Eligibility List, we should schedule
oral interview dates for the next group. After the Board discussed dates and times, they agreed to hold
interviews in December with a meeting at 3:00 p.m. prior to the first night of interviews.
FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Fire Chief Lambel asked if a commissioner would be available for a swearing-in ceremony at 4:00 p.m. on
October 1, 2018, and Commissioner Knee volunteered. Fire Chief Lambel reported on staffing and
reminded the Board about the Open House.
FIRE DEPARTMENT NEW HIRE TEST UPDATE
Fire Chief Lambel reported on the preliminary results of the exam. Out of the 238 that signed up for the
exam, 188 took the exam. There was a general discussion on preference points and the testing process.
Chairperson Powers asked for a motion to go into closed session:
1. Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) -The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline,
performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing
testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity
2. To approve the Closed Session minutes of August 6, 2018 and August 27, 2018.
A motion was made by Commissioner Knee and seconded by Commissioner Claussen to go into Closed
Session at 6:06 p.m.

The Board returned to open session at 6:10 P.M
Roll Call: Chairman Powers, Commissioner Busse, Commission Claussen, and Commissioner Knee
OTHER BUSINESS
Commissioner Knee complimented the Chairman on the annual report to the Village Board. After a brief
discussion, the Board agreed to hold the next meeting on November 5t" at 5:45 p.m.
With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Knee and seconded by Commissioner
Claussen to adjourn the meeting at 6:13 p.m.
