MAYOR'S REPORT 3.3 Proclamation: National French Week rj November 1-7. 2018 2919M Public Content 201.8.pdf (27 B) n c h Wk K �re Administrative Content Executive Content https://www.boarddocs.com/il/vomp/Board.nsf/Public 11/20/2018 PROCLAMATION NATIONAL FRENCH WEEK" NOVEMBER 1-7,2018 WHEREAS, education is the process by which one generation passes on to the next generation both the knowledge of how to learn"as well as a zestand passion for the joy of learning itself and WHEREAS, the success of achieving these loftygoals is mankind's insurance policy for the future,- and WHEREAS, in the study of foreign languages people have an immediate bridge to international understanding and cooperation,- and WHEREAS, the study of the French language by generations of American youth has fostered greater understanding and an appreciation for the people and cultures of France and the French-speaking world- and WHEREAS, this study will continue to bridge the miles thatseparate the students of the United States with those regions of the French-speaking world- and WHEREAS, since 2000, the Village of Mount Prospect has enjoyed a Sister City relationship with Sevres, France, a relationship strengthened by an enhanced understanding of each other's culture. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim the week of November 1-7, 2018 as NATIONAL FRENCH WEEK" in the Village of Mount Prospect, and I urge all residents to express their appreciation to those community educators who are truly cultural ambassadors" in their role as teachers of French.
