MAYOR'S REPORT 3.2 PROCLAMATION: Fire Prevention Week rj October 7-13, 2018 2919M ITNOT11, IT, �• I HN -ire ire veinti&n Week Prociamati&n 201.8.pdf (1.03 KB) Administrative Content Executive Content https://www.boarddocs.com/il/vomp/Board.nsf/Public 10/2/2018 PROCLAMATION "FIRE PREVENTION WEEK" OCTOBER 7 - 13, 2018 WHEREAS, Mount Prospect is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all those living in and visiting our community; and WHEREAS, fire is a serious public safety concern both locally and nationally, and homes are the locations where people are at greatest risk from fire; and WHEREAS, home structure fires have caused an estimated annual average of 2,510 civilian deaths in the United States, according to the National Fire Protection Association; and WHEREAS, only one-third of Americans have both developed and practiced a home fire escape plan; and WHEREAS, Mount Prospect residents are encouraged to draw a map of their home marking two exits from each room and a path to the outside from each exit; and WHEREAS, Mount Prospect residents are responsive to public education measures and are able to take personal steps to increase their safety from fire, especially in their homes; and WHEREAS, the 2018 Fire Prevention Week theme, "Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere." effectively serves to remind us that being prepared and aware of your surroundings can mean the difference between residents of our community escaping safely from a fire or having their lives end in tragedy. NOW THEREFORE, I, Arlene A. Juracek, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim October 7-13, 2018, as "FIRE PREVENTION WEEK" In the Village and I call upon the people of the Village of Mount Prospect to remember the 2018 message, "Look.
