Police Chief Steven Stelter from the Westchester Police Department (1st Vice President of the Illinois Chiefs of Police Association) will
be presenting the Mount Prospect Police Department with its recently received Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP)
Certification.
Earning ILEAP accreditation underscores the Mount Prospect Police Department's commitment to professionalism and creating public
value for the Mount Prospect Community. The accreditation is valid for four (4) years.
The Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP) is the ongoing process whereby law enforcement agencies evaluate their
policies and procedures against established criteria. The policies and procedures are then verified in compliance by an independent
and authoritative body, The Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Council. The Mount Prospect Police Department was judged on the
basis of 67 separate ILEAP standards as it pertains to administration, operations, personnel and training. Over the past year the Mount
Prospect Police Department has been revising its policies and procedures in order to meet the standards set by Illinois Law
Enforcement Accreditation Council. After an extensive two day onsite review in 2017, the Mount Prospect Police Department received
notice in April, 2018 that the Police Department would be receiving ILEAP Accreditation.
