MAYOR'S REPORT Subject3.1 PROCLAMATION: National Garden Week AccessPublic TypeInformation Public Content Nat Garden Week proclamaton2018.pdf (18 KB) Administrative Content Executive Content https://www.boarddocs.com/il/vomp/Board.nsf/Private?open&login6/21/2018 PROCLAMATION National Garden Week June3-9,2018 WHEREAS,theGardenClubofMountProspect,in conjunction with theGarden Cluboflllinois,Inc., and the NationalGardenClubs,Inc.,is promotingNational Garden Week in the Villageof Mount Prospect; and WHEREAS,Gardeners seek to add beauty, splendor, fragrance,nutritionand balanceto our communitythrough the growing of all types of plant materialsand the nurturing of creatures that have an importantrole in our ecology; and WHEREAS, Gardening furnishes a challenging and productive activity for our citizens as well as promoting a healthy lifestyle that lasts a lifetime; and WHEREAS,Garden Club membersareconcernedcitizenswillingtodevotetheir timeandtalentstotheconservation,preservationandbeautificationofourvillage, stateand nationandwilling to sharetheirknowledgeof gardening andhow to improvethe environment; and WHEREAS,theGarden Club of Mount Prospect has as its purpose toeducate and encourage interest in all phases of gardening, artistic use of plant materials, better horticulture practice, civic beauty and the conservation and protection of natural resources;and WHEREAS,the Garden Clubof Mount Prospect supports and participates in many activities in the Village, such as Arbor Day, Earth Day, Public Works Open House and the Mayor’s Monarch Challenge; and WHEREAS,the Garden Clubof Mount Prospectadds to the beauty in the Village by maintainingthe gardens at the Mount Prospect Historical Society andthe Arlene Prchal Butterfly Garden at Moehling Park; and WHEREAS, the Garden Clubof Mount Prospectrecognizes outstanding front yards in the Villagethrough its “Green Thumb” awards and educates residents about the importance of growing milkweed and other native plants for the monarch butterfly and other pollinators; and WHEREAS, the Garden Clubof Mount Prospectprovidesa means of social and service connectedness to the Villageof more than 80men and women who share a common love of gardeningand in celebration of the club’s 55 years in the Village. NOW,THEREFORE,I,ArleneA.Juracek,Mayorof theVillageofMountProspect, in an effort of acknowledge the importance of Gardening and the numerous contributions of Gardeners, I doherebyproclaimJune3-9,2018,as NATIONAL GARDENWEEK intheVillageofMountProspect,andIcommendthe Garden Club of Mount Prospect, Garden Clubs of Illinois and the NationalGardenClubsfor theirnumerous contributionstoaddingbeautytoourworld. ____________________________ Arlene A.
