ORDINANCE NO. 5063
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8 AND CHAPTER 16
OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That Section 16.403, entitled "Right of Way, Development and
Subdivision Standards," of Chapter 16 of the Village of Mount Prospect Code shall be
amended by amending subparagraph (b) to paragraph 7 entitled "Street Names" to be
and read as follows:
"b. The developer shall place street identification signs at the
intersection of all streets. Signs and poles shall be of a type, dimension,
color and height as required by the Director of Public Works. This shall
apply to all streets whether public or private."
SECTION TVVO: Section 8.303 of Article III of Chapter 8, of the Mount Prospect
Village Code shall be amended to be and read as follows:
"8.303: NUMBERS ON HOUSES:
It shall be the duty of the owners and occupants of every house in
the Village to place the street number on the house in figures that are at
least two and one-half inches (2-1/2") high so as to be visible from the
roadway."
SECTION THREE: Section 8.303 of Article III of Chapter 8 of the Mount Prospect
Village Code shall be further amended by adding a new Section 8.304 entitled "Street
Signs on Private Streets" to be and read as follows:
"8.304: STREET SIGNS ON PRIVATE STREETS:
Every private street in the Village shall be named and shall have a
street sign at its intersection with every other street. Signs and poles shall
be of a dimension, color and height as required by the Director of Public
Works. If there is a dispute as to whether a vehicular way is a street or
treet signs

not, the determination of the Director of Public Works shall be final. If a
street sign is not in existence on the date of the adoption of this
Ordinance, the Owner of the private street shall have one hundred twenty
days (120) from its adoption to install such a sign. In the case of
condominiums or other developments where the roadways have been
turned over to an association and are owned and maintained pursuant to
covenants and declarations, the owner shall be deemed to be the
homeowner association. In all other instances, the owner shall be
deemed to be the owner of record or in the case of a land trust, the
beneficial owner."
SECTION FOUR: This Ordinance shall be in full rome and effect from and after its
passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.
