L Call to Order: by Chairman Skip Farley at 5:47 pm.
II. Roll Call: Skip Farley, George Busse, John Eilering, Mayor Arlene Juracek, and Manfred Pfeifer
were in attendance. Absent: Georgia Mitchell
III. Approval of Minutes: There were no minutes available for approval
IV. Citizens to be heard: None present
V. Old Business:
A. Paula Randant has moved out of state and is no longer a member of our Commission. Georgia
was unable to attend our meeting due to a medical procedure.
VL New Business:
A. Mayor Juracek and Chairman Farley reviewed the history of the Sister City efforts in Mount
Prospect.
VII. Other Business:
A. George Busse spoke with Mount Prospect resident Bettina Fergus about a German city with no
US twin. The city is Isernhagen which is 23 miles northeast of Hanover. Ms. Fergus has
connections with this city which is in close proximity to where the founders of Mount Prospect
originated.
B. Manfred Pfeifer spoke about his hometown, Esslingen a/n which is near Stutgaart. Esslingen
a/n is a tourist town of fifty thousand residents. Manfred spoke with the region's cultural
minister 18 months ago who expressed interest in the opportunity to twin with Mount Prospect.
There was no follow up on our part because we were exploring other towns at the time.
Manfred will visit his hometown March 26—28 and will schedule a meeting on March 27.
Mayor Juracek will provide an introduction to Mount Prospect package for Manfred to deliver.
It was noted that our introductory package received national recognition and is now the standard
for exploring new twins. John Eilering will check on Bosch officers in the general vicinity. The
committee is very excited about this opportunity.
C. The Commission discussed our emphasis on cultural ideas which represents our interest in
finding a German town.
VIII. Next Meeting: When Manfred Pfeifer returns from his German visit.
IX. Adjourn: Chairman Farley adjourned the meeting at 6:29 pm.
Respectfully submitted:
John G. Eilering
Acting Secretary
