REGULAR MEETING

I. CALL TO ORDER at 3:09 pm
II. ROLL CALL
Present: Sharon Anderson, Alexander Bertolucci, Gerald "Skip" Farley, Janice Farley,

Christy Watychowicz, John Zulaski

Additional Village staff members present: Public Works Director Sean Dorsey

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
August 2, 2017 Meeting Minutes Skip Farley moved. Anderson seconded. Motion
passed.
IV. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD
Nancy Kim Phillips, MP Public Library, brought items for the Time Capsule.
Phillips presented a book that had been available to the public at the MPPL for
signatures, comments, wishes, predictions, etc. Approximately 175 people
signed.
V. OLD BUSINESS
A. Report: Webs ite/Facebook update and plans for after Centennial - Lindsay Rice
Website calendar server crashed. Rice created a Google calendar for the interim.
Rice continues to follow up on server restoration.
The MP Historical Society will take over the historical content: church histories,
photos, historical profiles, etc. Goal is end of 2017 for transfer to MP Historical
Society
B. Report: Fall events — Sister City Farmers Market, etc. — Sharon Anderson
The Market is on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Anderson, Murphy, and
Skowron volunteered to staff booth.
C. Report: Centennial store inventory— discounts? sell at tree lighting? — Sharon
Anderson
There will be some special sales.
D. Report: Memorials and time capsule burial plans — Mayor Arlene Juracek, Sean
Dorsey
Sat, Oct 14, 2017. At 11:00 am burial will take place on the Village Hall Emerson
side in a floral bed. Dorsey will pre-bury the 75th capsule in anticipation of the 100th
year time capsule set on top. Family plaques will be draped in anticipation of
ceremony. Family signs will be in following order from left to right: Eggleston,
Moehling, Wille, Meyn, Busse (in order of arrival in Mount Prospect). Garden plot:
same order (without Eggleston.). Plaques will be on stone in floral garden. Sponsors
of time capsule burial will be invited by Watychowicz. Murphy will have sign made for
burial sponsors. Murphy asked Dorsey to bring railroad sponsor sign to dedication.
Burial will be first activity; followed by Founding family members removing drapes on
family plaques.
E. Report: Ideas for uses for excess funds —sponsor signs in VH lobby, reception
etc.
The Mayor will write a letter to sponsors. Sign in village hall lobby to commemorate
100th anniversary. Reception was discussed for Centennial Commission members,
special events members, historical society, staff, and village Board before village
Board meeting on Tues, Feb 6, 2018. This will be the closing activity for anniversary
year.
F. Report: MPHS Centennial House Walk plans —Jean Murphy
On Sun, Dec 3, 2017 houses of centennial age will be toured.
G. Report: Time Capsule — go through collected items —Jean Murphy
Murphy and Skowron volunteered to repack 50th and 75th anniversary items in 75th
anniversary vault, stored at MPPL.
Anderson, Murphy, and Skowron will meet at MP Public Works to itemize and pack
100th anniversary items at noon on Wed, Oct 4. Murphy will contact Dorsey to pick
up both filled time capsules.
VI. NEW BUSINESS Sat. Sept 9 is Randhurst Village Street Fest-Centennial Celebration:
There will be entertainment, cake, kiddy rides, etc. from 11 am to 5pm.
VII. OTHER BUSINESS — member roundtable— additional ideas? Comments?
Coin auction will be promoted.
VIII. NEXT MEETING
October 4, 2017 —3:00 p.m. —Village Hall Third Floor Conference Room
IX. ADJOURN Zulaski moved adjournment at 4:37 pm. Anderson seconded. Motion
passed.
