On June 15, 2017, American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and public transportation systems across the
country will celebrate the 12th Annual National Dump the Pump Day.
With the continued fluctuation of gas prices, the Regional Transportation Authority, Northwest Municipal Conference and
Mount Prospect will join with other public transportation systems, regional councils of governments and municipalities to
encourage people to ride public transportation.
Public transportation offers many benefits including saving time and money, preserving the environment, creating jobs,
and improving quality of life.

more than $9,312 annually by downsizing to one car.
Additionally, public transportation is a cornerstone of local economies with $1 invested in public transportation generates
approximately $4 in economic returns.
