Representing Staff was Village Manager Michael Cassady, Fire Chief Brian Lambel and Community Development Director Bill Cooney. Dick Radzak— Mr. Radzak stated that he lives adjacent to the Northwest Assembly of God church that is located at the NW corner of Kensington Road and Wolf Road. He stated that several trucks and a bus have been parking in the church lot in the evenings and that they be loud and unsightly to the surrounding neighborhood. He asked that the Village contact the church and ask that they stop letting these vehicles to be parked on the property. Mr. Cooney advised that the Community Development and Police Departments would handle the issue. He added that if the bus was owned and operated by the church that it would be allowed to park on the property. Louis Goodman— No comments. Jerry Boldt,School Street—No comments. Jim Chylik—No comments. John Walter— No comments Ken Koeppen - Mr. Koeppen inquired if the Village had switched back to ComEd as the primary electrical supplier for the Village? He was advised that the Village's aggregated energy supply contract is with Homefield Energy and runs through July of 2017. Residents can opt out of that supplier by going online and modifying their accounts. Skip Farley- Mr. Farley stated that he watched a recent Village Board meeting where it was proposed that the maximum fence height be increased to 6' in residential areas. He stated that he was opposed to this increase and felt that it wasn't consistent with the Village's motto "where friendliness is a way of life". The group discussed this issue with varying opinions on the matter. Bill Grossi— No comments. Vicky Chung- No comments. Barbie and Steve Van Arsdale—No comments. Pat and Walter Szymczak—No comments. Walter and Pat Szymczak — Mr. Szymczak stated that the plastic material that the Village uses to protect landscaping along roadways acts as a site line obstruction in certain areas along Prospect Avenue. He suggested that the Village purchase clear plastic if at all possible. He stated that the intersections of Albert and Wille along Prospect Avenue were particularly challenging. Mal Holec - Mr. Holec stated that he didn't agree with the Village Board's recent decision to opt out of the County's minimum wage ordinance. Several others in the audience provided their opinion on this matter with split viewpoints. Bill Millar— Mr. Millar stated that the recently installed public sidewalk along Central Road at Westbrook School was spalling. He asked if there was a warranty for that. Mr. Cooney stated that he would ask Public Works to review the sidewalk and handle accordingly. He then stated that he received his latest water bill and indicated that he was billed the 2017 rate for water that was delivered in 2016. He asked if that was proper and Mr. Cassady stated he would verify the Village's policy the Finance Department. Louis Bowers— Mr. Bowers asked how the Everbridge system worked. Chief Lambel provided a brief overview of how the system worked. John Dunn — Mr. Dunn asked why the lights at the pedestrian crossing on Central Road couldn't be changed from yellow to red? Mr. Cassady explained the history of the crossing and recent discussions with IDOT. Ken Wagner—No comments. Craig Iverson— No comments Brian Maye—Mr. Maye stated that he is running for the School District 57 board and was attending this meeting to hear what was going on in town. Kristen Worst—No comments. Yulia Bjekic— Ms. Bjekic about the status of Golf Plaza 2 and the downtown projects. Mr. Cooney provided the group with an update on several development projects. Tom Manion— No comments. Terry Gens—No comments. Maria Joe— No comments. David Schein — Mr. Schein noted that the rehabilitation project at the train station had stalled. He was advised that it was a federally funded project and that it would be completed by July. He then read a statement that called for the Village to consider becoming a sanctuary city given the large number of first generation residents live in the Village. Rachel Rothcoff — Ms. Rothcoff had some technical questions regarding the TIF. Mr. Cooney answered her questions directly after the meeting.
