(The Coordinator introduced Ms. Turayhi to the Commission members and gave a brief

in learning more about environmentally safe disposal practices for hazardous materials.

SOLID WASTE PROGRAM AND DATA
• The Coordinator reported that the recycling program implemented at Countryside
Apartments needed to improve before the property would realize a discount in solid
waste services. In addition to minimal participation garbage is being placed in some
of the toters.
There was also discussion regarding revitalization of the residential recycling
program through increased community education efforts.
The Commission suggested evaluating the feasibility of a cooperative program
between the Village and the Mount Prospect Park District to increase the volume of
recyclables recovered in the parks, i.e., sporting events, park functions, etc.
The Coordinator was asked to invite representatives from the Park District to the next
Commission meeting to discuss a potential partnership.
• The Coordinator stated the revenue issue between the Village and ARC Disposal
Company appeared resolved. The Village had deducted the amount due from
payment for October solid waste services.
• The Commission members expressed positive comments on the loose leaf collection

program would begin as scheduled, November 24.
