III.APPROVAL OF MINUTES
May 4, 2016 Meeting Minutes. Skip Farley moved. Anderson seconded. Motion passed.

V.OLD BUSINESS
A. Report: Website/online store update –Lindsay Rice
-Centennial merchandise is posted on the Centennial website’s store tab.Paymentand
shippingwill be coordinated through theMount Prospect Historical Society. If someone
makes a purchase with both centennial and historical society merchandise then the items
would be shipped and handledseparately due to tax implications.
-Press release will go out soon that will explain the merchandise, paymentsoptions, and
shipping.

-At the June 7Village Board meeting the Mayor will present the press release and will
show images of the merchandise. Centennial pins will be provided to Village Board
members.
B. Report: Sponsorships update –Skip Farley, Leo Floros, Christy Watychowicz
-$33,000has been collectedthrough sponsorships to date.
-Suggested to contact Weber Grillbecause the company’s origins are based in Mount
Prospect.
-There was also a discussion regarding possible sponsorship for Feb. 3, 2017 fireworks
display.
C. Report: Update on Centennial logo on water tower –Sean Dorsey

-Public Works Director Dorsey met with thecrane company and installerafter the May
commission meeting. He provided cost details associated with the project.
-Anderson moved to approve the purchase and installation of 2 logos on the water tower
in an amount not to exceed $7,100 ($2,300 for two logos and $4,800 for installation).
Watchowicz seconded. Motion passed.
-Village staff will notify the Commission when a date for the installation is scheduled.
D. Report: Fire hydrant painting update –Christy Watychowicz

-The 15 hydrant art applications received to date were presented.
-Created a draft approval letter and would like to include paint or painting supply
coupons with the approval letters, however, this is dependent onsponsorship.
-Randhurst has 9 community groups interested in decoratinghydrantsontheir property.
E. Report: Light pole banners –design approval, who coordinate placement? –Jean
Murphy, Sean Dorsey.
-The banner sample shown during the May meeting was quoted at $63 dollars each.
-Since the last meeting, there is a new design based on additional photos of the water
tower and the designer blending the purple header in to the image.
-We will need to coordinate wherepeople buy the banners and determine the best way of
coordinating banner location requests.
-There was general discussion regardingavailable light poles with brackets.
-Public Works Director Dorsey will review possible light pole banner locations and
opportunitiesfor additional brackets. It was noted that the brackets for banners could be
a considerable additional cost.
F. Report: Time capsule unearthing plan –Sharon Anderson, Mayor Arlene
Juracek
-The time capsule has been locatedand members discussed a sponsorshipopportunity
for the unearthing event.
-There was discussion regarding staging and timing for the day. The time capsule will be
unearthed at 10 am on Saturday of the Block Party.
-The time capsulewill be on display during the block party with a list of items we think
are in capsule. We will also have the centennial merchandisefor sale.
-Capsule items will be photographed; images placedon the websiteand items will be
displayed at the historical society.
-
Zulaski
will check with the library regarding having items, photos of items, or some presentation
of time capsule items on display.
G. Report: Celestial Celebration update –Linda Hoefert
-There was a discussion regarding booking Orchestra 33 ($11,500) for thee banquet.
They are offering to play for three hours with 5bandmembers and4 dancers. There was
a suggestion to askthem if oneof their memberswould be theM.Cfor the banquet.
-We want to create an atmosphereand have an M.C. whois able to maintain the
atmosphere and energy.

-Ticket prices are estimated to be $65, previously $45 ticket. There is an up charge for
nicer meals.
-Give-a-ways were budgeted; however, there was discussion regarding selecting a
memorable item versus a consumable or some combination of both.
H. Report: Summer month of concerts? –Sharon Anderson, Dale Henricksen
-Initial concept of a week of concerts with groups having their own event on their own
days is logistically difficult due to conflicting schedules with existing events.
-Possibility of coordinating a month of concerts and musical events with a packaged
promotional opportunity.
-Discussion with music groups will continue based on the month of concerts concept.
-Randhurst is willing to host.
I. Report: Outreach to Interfaith Council –Sharon Anderson
-
The Interfaith Council reviewing locations to hold their event(s).
-The Commission will be requesting images of faith based organizations’ ornamental
windows tobe displayed onthe Centennial website.
-Discussed coordinating faith organizations playing bells/chimesat midnighton Feb. 3,
2017.
J. Report: International event –John Zulaski, Alex Bertolucci
-
Update was provided regarding Mount Prospect’s restaurant list and highlighting
restaurantsinternational flavor.
-Look into opportunity with the Library to recognize Mount Prospect nationalities.
Possibly for one month roomswill be decorated for different nationalities, or holiday
wreaths decoratedby the communitybased on different national traditions and themes.
VI.NEW BUSINESS
Advertise in Journal special section? –Marianthi Thanopoulos
-
The Commission discussedthis and similar advertising opportunities. However,
additional funds for advertising are not available within the Commission’s budget.
-
There was general discussion regarding Journal and Topics centennialsponsorship
which is not affiliated with the official Centennial Celebration sponsorship packages.
VII.OTHER BUSINESS (member roundtable)
-
There wasfurther discussion regarding coordinationof light pole banners, location
preferences and revisiting this at the November 2016 meeting.
-ContactedThe Sanfilippo Foundation of Barrington, IL regarding if a piece of their
collectioncould be made available for a centennial themed event. Potential events were
discussed and conversations with The Sanfilippo Foundation will continue.
